Meet Zingo

My name is Zingo. I am heartworm positive and my liver enzymes are a little high. I have to undergo treatment for heartworm before I am healthy enough to be neutered or have my teeth cleaned. The Doctor thinks that my liver will get better with my heartworm treatment.
Everyone who meets me falls in love with me, and I love everyone I meet! The staff lets me sit in their laps all day, and sleep in their office at night. When I am up front greeting the guests who come in I try to jump in everyones arms and get a little love!
As this is being typed for me I am laying in my bed after my first heartworm treatment. I'm sure I'll be alright, but I know this kind of treatment cost a lot of money. Please help me by donating to Honey's Fund, and please come in and meet me...I love hugs!
If you are interested in adopting this sweet boy, just want to see how he is doing, or would like more information on heartworms and heartworm treatment you can call or email the shelter.

Sneakers Update
We love hearing about out HSCC Alumni, and we recently received a letter from Mr. Nappi, who adopted Sneakers. It reads.....
"I thought you would like to hear how Sneakers and I are getting along. She is a sweetheart and she's full of mischief. Yesterday I was putting away some finished laundry into my bedroom closet. Unbeknown to me, Miss Sneakers was watching me. I failed to notice that one of her toys was on the top shelf of the closet. Obviously she didn't.
I left the bedroom after putting everything on hangers and went into the living room. A few minutes passed when I heard some noise coming from the bedroom. I went into the bedroom and there sat Sneakers with the most innocent look I've ever seen. The closet opens from side to side so she didn't have to open any door. All she had on her mind was the toy that she had spotted earlier. On the floor lay pants, shirts, sweaters, two pair of shoes and one sportcoat. She had pulled everything off of their hangars trying to get to the toy. The pile was about two feet high. It took me about fifteen minutes to put everything back.
Needless to say, I was surprised. I told her that we needed to talk. Of course, I did all the talking. I don't know if she learned anything but I sure did. I learned that never again will I put one of her toys into a clothes closet. Please be assured that I wouldn't trade here for the world".

Free Roaming Cat Room & Cat Cottage

In an effort to make our cats more cozy during their stay with us we are trying to turn our current cat room into a safe area the cats can "free roam' in.
Studies show that cats that are not caged have less stress, which means they are not prone to illness, and will have a better chance at being adopted because they behave as they would in a home environment. To do this we need your help!
We need:
VOLUNTEERS for many projects including making kitty beds. We also need people with backgrounds as electricians, plumbers, and carpenters to help us transform the room. We need artists to help with painting and decorating, and we need people to come in and comfort the cats while this transition is taking place.
GIFT CARDS to Home Depot (Lowes? Wherever?) to help us purchase the items we will need to make this happen.
SPONSORS for our new room!
If you would like to donate to our Free Roaming Cat Room, or would like to come in and help get the work done, please call 301.645.8181 and speak with Jean or Leigha.
(And don't worry, the pocket pets are getting their own room!!)
