National Animal Shelter Appreciation Week, November 7-13

National Animal Shelter Appreciation Week

This week marks National Animal Shelter Appreciation Week.  It was established to celebrate the invaluable role that all shelters play in their communities and to increase public awareness of animal welfare issues and shelter services.

Here are just a few ways you can join us in celebrating National Animal Shetler Appeciation Week:

Volunteer Your Time

Many people find that volunteering their time is a very fulfilling way to contribute to their community.  Our volunteer program is very active.  We depend heavily on our volunteers, whether it be long or short term, a couple of hours a day, a week, a month, or a year.  Our volunteers are involved in everything we do, from caring for the animals to working at our events...Yard Sales, Craft Fairs, Bingo, and many others!  Other volunteers type letters, perform repairs on our building, provide printing services, and even come in just to walk the dogs!

If you have something you would like to contribute to our organization, please call Leigha Messick at 301-645-8181 or email her lmessick@humanesocietycc.org

Bring In Supplies

We are currently in need of dry cat and kitten food.  We could also use some non-clumping clay litter (40 lb. bags from Tractor Supply and Sam's Club work well for our needs).

Donate

By making a monetary donation, you are giving the means to provide food, shelter and medical care to the animals that may not get it any other way.  In addition, you are providing them with a second chance by giving us the means to provide adoption services.  And thats not all!  The low cost spay and neuter, low cost rabies vaccination clinics and Humane Education for the public all depend on your donation.

Thank you for celebrating National Shelter Appreciation Week with us!
