                     April 2012
Greetings!

John, Janeece, Dean and I just returned from the 2012 MS Dynamics Convergence Conference. As usual there is a lot going on at Microsoft and our Dynamics line of products is undergoing some significant changes. In this newsletter we will focus on several themes that went across the conference.

It won't be of any surprise to our readers that the underlying theme was the "Cloud". As many of you already know, Conexus is already able to fully host GP, SL and CRM in the cloud. This is currently done using a mix of technologies from Citrix as well as using some native web interfaces to the products. Please take the time to read our article "GP 2013 Gets the Cloud".

One of the other themes of the conference revolved around interoperability. Microsoft has announced that it will be supporting all popular browsers and phones soon you will be able to run Microsoft Applications from your iPad or your Driod!

In addition to changes in the product suite, we have had a number of changes here at Conexus SG. We have made some strategic additions to our staff and are currently recruiting for someone to head up our FP&A Practice.

Warmest Regards,

MS Dynamics GP - SSRS Reporting

Microsoft's SQL Server Reporting Services - incorporated into Dynamics GP - is Microsoft's latest direction in business applications. It is quickly overtaking Crystal Reports, among other business intelligence tools.

Sporting a web interface, this Report Manager Admin tool enables you to maintain both report executions and delivery, defined in RDL.

SSRS

The benefit of reports defined by RDL is the ability to generate a variety of formats, including Excel, PDF, CSV, XML, TIFF (including other image formats), HTML Web Archive, and even MS Word (Doc) format.

Adding to the brilliance of this tool is the convenience of over 200 pre-build reports available to the user.

These reports can be published on your internal website just like any other SQL Server Reporting Services reports you may have, and also include report models that you will make the creation of new reports an even easier task.

The fourth quarter of 2012 creates a mountain of anticipation as Microsoft plans to release Dynamics GP 2013, the latest version of their web-based client. As new features are tested and tried, those that prove successful will be added with regular interactive updates. However, ready to be taken advantage of are over 150 new features that are making this client a ready competitor in its field.

Listed below are a few of the innovative changes you can look forward to:

2013The Business Analyzer dashboard will now be easier to access over the web, enabling you and your team to quickly track (KPI's) key performance indicators, to anticipate opportunities, to delegate tasks, and to take informed action. Delivering insight across your business that is role-specific, this tool allows for each of your team members the ability to focus on only the  relevant details, work effectively with other, and take immediate action directly from their Microsoft Dynamics GP home page. It also provides your employees with web access to MS Dynamics GP, allowing them to connect and participate irrespective of their location, by utilizing either their PC or a mobile device.

The day-to-day functions and processes have been simplified to enhance efficiency and productivity. These enhanced capabilities spread across financial management, asset and inventory management, shipping, and purchasing and receiving, among others. Most importantly, it will aid in driving costs out of your business.

MS Dynamics CRM - Cloud Based Apps for Cross-Platforms

In the second quarter of 2012, Microsoft Dynamics CRM will be releasing the next service update. However, this is no ordinary service update.

With this update will come the ability for customers to access full functionality of MS Dynamics CRM from wherever they may find themselves - on the road or during a business lunch. This is made possible via the new cloud-based, cross-platform, native mobile client service for Windows Phone 7, iPhone, iPad, Android and BlackBerry mobile devices.

Thanks to the raw power of xRM, seamless integration will exist between customers' Microsoft Dynamics CRM Mobile and their extended CRM applications environment.

This new client service does more than just support various mobile platforms; the update will also feature cross-browser support for the Dynamics CRM application, covering a variety of well-known browsers, including Chrome, Safari, and Firefox (not forgetting Internet Explorer).

Even social collaboration capabilities will provide improved and additional functionalities, as well as easier access to popular social networks, making it easier to monitor statistics.

In addition, Microsoft will also offer a range of industry solution templates that will enforce both flexibility and suitability in terms of MS Dynamics CRM, meeting specific needs for different industries, such as retail and services, distribution, manufacturing and public sector. These templates consist of data model, workflow process and sample data, as well as pre-configured dashboards.
