February 2010
Dear Friend:

Happy Valentine's Day!

Hope this newsletter finds your heart healthy and warm even though the weather is dreary and cold!

As I mentioned last month, we are trying to provide you with some information to help you make informed decisions in your finances!  This month I want to briefly touch on the Credit Card Act.

Americans pay about $15 billion in penalty fees from credit cards each year. The Credit Card Accountability, Responsibility and Disclosure Act of 2009 (Credit CARD Act), issued May 22, 2009, is attempting to end this and eliminate rate hikes and hidden fees.

The Act will set limits on what the credit card companies can do with fees and rates. It forces them to be more transparent with customers. The Act will have a significant change on the face of the credit card industry as we know it.  Do you know how this act affects you?

There are a couple of major changes: there are restrictions on over-the-limit fees, higher interest rates because of late payments must be lowered again if the payments are made on time for six months, and there are also limits on fees for opening a card.  These are just a couple of significant changes the Act covers.

Most of the Credit Card Act goes into effect on February 22, 2010.  I encourage you to find out the details in this Act.  The Richwood Banking Company is compliant with the new Act and only made a few changes to become compliant.  We do not charge outrageous fees and do not hide fees in any of our products.  We realize we may not always be the best interest rate but we also know "you get what you pay for"!  If the rate or conditions seem too good to be true, maybe take a second look!

Have a great February!

Big P's Pit Stop

Phil and Paula Wright started Big P's Pitstop (formally known as Kenco, A.K.A. Country Corner)

in New Bloomington, Ohio, May 1st 1993.

The name "Big P's Pitstop" came from another business they owned at the time "Big P's Pizzeria".

Their son Philip chose Pitstop for the store. Phil and Paula felt Pitstop was appropriate as their goal

for the small grocery/gas station was to have almost anything someone might need. Big P's Pitstop

pumps quality Marathon gas, carries a wide line of groceries, fresh cut deli meats and cheeses,

and all convenience store needs.

They have made many upgrades since 1993. In 1996, they did a major remodel of the facility, putting

in a state of the art computer monitoring system, full canopy and all new tanks for the gas pumping part

of the operation. They have upgraded all of the refrigeration throughout the year's replaced the

freezers and deli case.

Phil and Paula are hands - on kind of owners. They are very grateful to the Pitstop Crew, some who have

been with the Pitstop for many years. They would also like to take this opportunity to thank the community

for their support and friendship.

Phil and Paula always felt if they worked hard and together, treated people with kindness and respect, their

business would continue to grow. They are located on Rt 95 in New Bloomington Ohio.

RICHWOOD BANKING COMPANY PAYROLL MANAGMENT
BRAIN STRAIN

A dad gives his son money every day to put in his piggy bank. He gives the money to him in such a way that the money in the bank doubles with each passing day. If the son already has 1 cent in his piggy bank and the dad gives his son 1 cent the first day, 2 cents the second day, 4 cents the third day and so on, then the son's piggy bank gets full on the 14th day.

On which day will the son's piggy bank be half full?

Email me @ abugg@richwoodbank.com with the correct answer.  Please include your name & address.

Getting to know your banker!

Hi, my name is Beth Ciminello. I'm a life long resident of the Plain City area being raised on our family farm with my two older brothers. Following the farming tradition in my family, my husband, Lou and I own and operate a small grain farm just outside of Plain city. In the past, we have raised sheep, chicken, and goats, plus many barn cats.  Lou and I will be celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary this June. We have two grown children, Josh and Amy. Josh is a mechanical engineer with Honda Research and Development and lives in Marysville. Amy lives in Galloway and is a tax accountant with Plante and Moran, while acquiring her Masters in Taxation Degree. My interest includes not only our farm, but gardening and traveling. Lou and I have been in 42 states and parts of Canada. We enjoy camping and canoeing, plus last year we whitewater rafted the New River West Virginia. That was fun! Also, I enjoy sewing and baking, as well as cross-stitching. I am located at our Plain City office as a Teller.
