January 2010
Dear Friend:

Happy New Year!

I hope you had a wonderful Christmas season and are now ready to tackle 2010 with enthusiasm!  I believe the last couple of years have indicated some behavior problems we as humans, have displayed in the past decade and hopefully have learned not to repeat!

It goes back to the time of Pharaoh and Joseph!  As I remember, the Pharaoh had a dream about cows and heads of grain.  There were 7 fat cows and full heads, followed by 7 skinny cows and empty heads.  Joseph interpreted the dream as a warning that there would be 7 years of feast for their country followed by 7 years of famine.

Because of his correct interpretation, they saved during the feast years to be ready for the famine years!  Joseph was promoted and, as far as this story goes, they lived happily ever after.

I'm afraid we didn't learn much from the story because we all know that the economy is cyclical.  In other words, we are in a constant cycle between prosperity and depression.  Sometimes we never truly make it to the top or bottom before heading back in the other direction.  Many scholars predict where we are now and where we are headed, but sadly, it isn't a science.

Why in 2005 and 2006, when most would say we were in a prosperous period, did we actually have a negative savings rate?  We actually spent more money than we made in the good years.  Then the cycle turned and few were ready!  We are going to try over the next several months, to play the part of Joseph.  We want to give you an idea of what is happening in the world of finance.  We are not financial advisors but we can give you some information to help you be ready for the future "famines"!

Thanks for your trust and Good Luck in all of your 2010 endeavors!

Doc Henderson's

Doc Henderson's is located at 318 E 5th Street, Marysville, Ohio. It is owned and operated by Robert & Elizabeth Meeder. The Henderson home was  built in 1884 for Dr David Henderson, a Marysville physician. The home changed hands several times over the next century. Most recently it was purchased by Susan & Barry Cordell and was made into a Castle Bed & Breakfast and Antique Shop. Robert & Elizabeth Meeder purchased the Henderson House in 2002 and it spent three years as the home of Elizabeth's antique business. In 2005, another transformation began. A 15 month renovation restored the 19th century mansion and now showcases Doc Henderson's American bistro cuisine in a historic setting.

Getting to know your banker!

My name is Hannah Endres. I have been a customer service representative at the Marysville Branch for two years. I graduated in 2007. This is my first job. (And hopefully my last too! J ) I've always loved counting things, so this job allows me to do what I love daily.  I recently got engaged to my boyfriend of almost 2 years. I look forward to planning a wedding for either late spring, or early summer!  In my free time I love knitting, playing guitar, and I'm sadly a VH1 and MTV junkie. I'm practically addicted to Reality TV shows! I love food! I'll eat pretty much anything, but I especially love sushi, chips and salsa, and lasagna.

Ways to Combat the Winter Blues

1.        Keep Busy - The busier you are, the less often you'll become aware of how dim and dark the days are, and how much you long for shorts and warm breezes.

2.       Get Exercise - Your body is likely to feel healthier, and in turn your mind will be more peaceful, if you make sure you get regular exercise each week.

3.       Keep Your Space Clean - A person's domestic haven tends to get filthy during the winter, and this can affect your health to the extreme.

4.       Eat Healthy - You are what you eat, and don't ever believe it's not true.

5.       Don't Drown Your Sorrows - Alcohol is a depressant, that's a fact.

6.       Hunker Down and Work - All those projects you've been planning throughout the year?  Now is the time.

7.       Treat Yourself - Let's be honest, everyone needs a pick-me-up sometimes.
