"To find suitable persons for the Episcopal ministry and
aid them in acquiring a thorough education"

SIM's founding purpose on October 2, 1857;

our ministry ever since.

 Happy Birthday SIM

Seal
Greetings!,

HO HUM, another birthday. Number 155. Quite the longevity for an independent Episcopal organization founded on October 2, 1857 to "find suitable persons for the Episcopal ministry and aid them in acquiring a thorough education."

What isn't HO HUM is SIM's solution to the church's seemingly insoluble decades old problem of funding theological education. What isn't so HO HUM is SIM's realistic 5% Solution! It's a "do-the-math" answer.

If 5% of Episcopalians in the Pews (EIPs) gave at the suggested monthly rate of $18.57, funding would be created to more than cover 100% of the tuitions of ALL three year full time residential M. Div. (Masters of Divinity) Episcopal students! Here is how it works in round numbers:

ASA (Average Sunday Attendance) for Episcopal Church (or EIPs) 700,000
x 5%
35,000

Circle of Seminarian Friends Suggested Monthly Contribution x $18.57
Months in year x 12
= $7.8 million

Average number of 3 year full time residential M. Div. Episcopal seminarians per year:  450

Average tuition:  $15,400

Total average tuition costs = $6.9 million

One of the greatest assets of The Episcopal Church is our well-educated, well-trained, and well-formed clergy. We cannot afford to take this asset for granted. Join the Circle of Seminarian Friends today: www.simministry.org.
