WHY SIM IS IMPORTANT TO YOU
|

|
Greetings!
In the style of Dave Letterman's end of the day "Top 10", SIM offers its year-end "Top 10 Reasons" (in the words of seminarians, alumni priests, donors and business leaders) of why SIM's ministry is important to every EIP (Episcopalian In the Pew):
10. "I have come to understand that the average parishioner has no idea what it costs to receive a residential seminary education. Awareness is key to continued improvement for both of us."
9. "Even though I do not know all their names, I feel the presence of the prayers and support of SIM donors. SIM has reminded me that I am not alone in my journey."
8. "I believe that my education and experience in a residential community will benefit my future parishioners and me greatly as we live our lives together in the parish. SIM's support helped make my formation experience possible."
7. "Your tireless advocacy and fiscal support are vital to my success. I see SIM representing seminarians in the halls of the national bodies of the Church. Thank you for the comfort that provides."
6. "God has blessed me by calling me to his ministry and shows me every day the true meaning of what it means when he tells us he will provide. Your visit showed me how passionate you are about your ministry and how vital SIM is for seminarians."
5. "Excellent organizations invest in and nurture its future leaders." (Tom Peters, author of In Search of Excellence)
4. Well-educated, well-trained and well-formed clergy: "The Bible must be opened and its rich and varied texts explored. The history of the church through the ages must be taught. The great theological issues and questions must be confronted. If a student has a vocation to the ordained ministry, he or she must learn how to preach the gospel effectively, how to administer the sacraments rightly and how to be a good pastoral caregiver."
3. "SIM carries the flag of reducing today's financial burdens of obtaining an education that can be deterrents to pursuing God's call to enter priesthood or debilitating to one's ministry for years to come. Everyone loses - the one called, the parish needing their ministry, and the church needing to increase the ministry."
2. SIM is the only organization raising funds on a national basis to support Episcopal seminarians. 1. Seminarians have answered THEIR calls to serve YOU as ordained leaders of the Church's future. Seminarians are YOUR future ordained leaders.
