Are You Investing in the Future of Your Church?

Seal
On behalf of the almost 5000 seminarians your support has helped throughout the years, thank you.

For 153 years, the Society for the Increase of the Ministry (SIM) has been dedicated to ensuring that our Church has highly educated and well trained ordained leadership. We have accomplished this by helping to fund the seminary education of people seeking ordination.

The cost of theological education these days have become daunting and present a challenging disparity against average beginning levels of clergy compensation. Unfortunately, this disparity can determine whether one answers a call to attend seminary. Often the situation is exacerbated by those seeking ordination who already have high undergraduate debts.

As much as the world of seminary education is changing, the basic tasks of theological education today are much as it was in 1857, when SIM was founded: the Bible must be opened and its rich and varied texts explored; the history of the church through the ages must be taught; the great theological issues and questions must be confronted. If a student has a vocation to the ordained ministry, he or she must learn how to preach the gospel effectively, how to administer the sacraments rightly and how to be a good pastoral caregiver. Time has not altered these tasks of theological education.

Today we're writing with an invitation to join us in working together toward the elimination of crippling debt faced by many graduating seminarians.

Introducing the $18.57 Circle of Friends

The $18.57 Circle of Friends was founded both as a legacy to the year of our inception and to provide regular, sustainable funding to support our seminarians.

Most importantly for you, the $18.57 Circle of Friends provides an easy way to join with others who share your commitment to the future of The Episcopal Church.  With a monthly gift of just $18.57 - or the amount of your choosing - you'll be investing in the very individuals who will be your ordained leaders.

Become a Friend:  invest in people - people called to be priests in The Episcopal Church.

The Circle of Friends is an easy and manageable way to join together for a worthy vision - investing in future ordained leaders to serve The Episcopal Church.  To enroll, simply click here and make your gift via checking account or credit card.
