"...to equip the saints for the work of ministry,
for building up the body of Christ."
Ephesians 4:12 God calls every Christian to ministry.
Some are called to the ordained ministry, like the seminarians supported by SIM, while others are called to lay ministries, such as a ministry of "equipping the saints"-a ministry of generosity.
You're probably thinking
"how can SIM talk about a ministry of generosity when times are tough?"Recently, however, the thought of generosity as a ministry was revealed to me in a letter of appreciation from this year's Charles Kaman Scholar, Sewanee senior Stephen Carson, to Mr. Kaman.
Stephen with his family at the
University of the South, School of
Theology in Sewanee TN
"I have been in The School of Theology at the University of the South for two years now. This has been the best time of my life. My family would never have been able to come here if it were not for the gracious gifts of generous people like you. Thank you so very much for your wonderful ministry."
"Your wonderful ministry" is a ministry of "equipping the saints." Would that we all help each other more fully live into the ministries to which God calls us.
SIM does just that - provide a means for Episcopalians to help seminarians live into their calls. Connecting Mr. Kaman to grateful seminarians like Stephen means SIM is doing its job.
As of March 15, 2010, SIM has raised $334,000 toward its June 30, 2010 goal of $383,000.
Please give boldly to help SIM's "wonderful ministry" of equipping future ordained leaders to serve the Episcopal Church.
Thank you for being a part of SIM.
Faithfully,
Tom Moore
