1 for 50 Update December 2009
Greetings!
 
Happy December!
 
At some time in the past year, you indicated your interested in the 1 for 50 Initiative, a new training and networking project focused on equipping a new generation of leaders to reach and disciple children for Christ around the world.

It has been a very busy summer and fall of listening, working, and development with input and participation from church, children and mission leaders from over 80 nations. We're finally ready to begin the next stage! While there are still many issues and questions to address in the days ahead, Pilot Groups are being planned and Work Groups are working. There is a groundswell of global interest! It's amazing. (Click here for an updated Vision Page to share with others. Also, let us know if you'd like a copy of the 17-page Strategic Plan Draft.)

These are extraordinary days for reaching and discipling children. Please continue to pray with us that God will unite our hearts and direct our steps as we focus on equipping ourselves as the Body of Christ for better ministry to and with children.

Announcing the first 1 for 50
Global Training Summit
February 23-24, 2010
Philadelphia PA (USA)
The first Global Training Summit aims to prepare participating organizations, networking facilitators and global trainers for pilot and launch activities with the 1 for 50 Initiative around the world. (Other summits are being planned in other regions of the world, as well.)

Who should attend?
Any group or individual already involved in global children's ministry training, with a desire to participate with the 1 for 50 Initiative globally.

Prayer Requests
  1. Pray for God's guidance and help as several pilot projects begin in 2010.
  2. Pray for unity, wisdom and direction as the strategic plan and other planning tasks are completed by Facilitation Teams and Work Groups.
  3. Pray for God to raise up workers and leaders in nations, regions and communities with a new passion for reaching and discipling children.
  4. MOST OF ALL:  Pray for the children in your sphere of influence and in your community. Do they all know Jesus? What will they need in order to know and follow him for themselves? Pray for God to remove obstacles and make a way for them to know and love Jesus as you do.
It's time to get to work.
Can you help?
With the completion of the strategic plan, we're ready for action. These are still mostly "behind the scenes" jobs related to design, development and coordination. Is there a chance you could help us out in one of these areas?
  1. LOGO: We need a great logo design.
  2. NEWSLETTER/UPDATES: Can someone help us do a better job of sending out regular 1 for 50 progress and news in 2010? 
  3. WEBSITE: Be part of a team developing an initial 1 for 50 website.
  4. DATABASE: Help us keep track of all the names and people who are expressing interest in 1 for 50.
  5. EDITORIAL: Edit/Proof the "State of Children's Ministries" research pages created for every nation (to be released in January).
  6. OTHER? Let us know.  
Pilot Groups?
  Several 1 for 50 pilot/launch projects are being planned in 2010. However, we are still looking for possible pilot locations in:

-Latin America
-Eastern Europe
 
A 1 for 50 Pilot will likely have visioning, networking and training components, so this is not just a one-time training event.
We can forward a simple briefing to help determine readiness to begin a 1 for 50 project.
