 CAFES Collage II
Summer greetings!
I wanted to take a few minutes and share some end-of the-year news with you over the fenceline.  The highlights are below with links to more information.
In March we celebrated a milestone anniversary with the 50th Annual Agricultural Technology Contest. Read the reminiscences of several former participants, see how your former schools fared, and check out photos from this year's event.
Higher education's commitment to the Wisconsin dairy industry was forefront in April, when we signed an agreement with Northcentral Technical College (Wausau, WI).  Students who complete an associate's degree in dairy science at NTC will be able to make a seamless transition to UW-River Falls to complete a bachelor's degree in dairy science.
As is tradition, we wrapped up the academic year in late April with the College Awards Banquet.
We awarded 105 scholarships to deserving students and honored individuals who have made significant contributions to the College and the broader agricultural industry.  I am pleased to share the 2010 award recipients:

Wisconsin Distinguished Agriculturalist
Because you're probably most interested in learning about what's happening with other alumni and former instructors we'll be including a News n' Notes section in the Fenceline too.
Finally, July will soon be here and with it comes the culmination of three years of hard work by many campus and community folks as Farm Technology Days comes to our own Pierce County for the first time.  We hope you can join us July 20th - 22nd. Of special note:
  • Join us at one of the alumni receptions - each day at 11am and 2pm in the Wisconsin Alumni Tent - at 6th Street (N) and Central Avenue
  • Look for the CAFES College booth in Ag Business Tent D
  • Stop by the Mann Valley Farm Open House from 5-8pm on Wednesday, July 21st for tours of the Dairy Learning Center, the rotational grazing operation, the meat animal enterprises and examples of local farmland preservation and land use planning tools.
We'll be in touch again in the fall.  Have a safe and fun summer!
