Alliance on Aging at the National Steinbeck Center  Dia de los Muertos 2011

El Dia de los Muertos (the Day of the Dead), is a day to celebrate, remember and honor those who have died.   Rather than a time of mourning, Day of the Dead - observed November 2nd - is a celebration of life and death.  Traditionally, the dead are honored with altars made up of photos, candles, food, flowers and trinkets.

This year the Alliance was lucky enough to be part of the Dia de los Muertos community celebration at the National Steinbeck Center in Salinas.  The altars will be set up and available for viewing through Sunday (November 6th).  Stop by, leave a note to honor a loved one, and enjoy!
