 May is Older Americans Month

Since 1965, the Older American Act (OAA) has gained recognition as a unique & highly regarded statute that has stimulated the development of a comprehensive & coordinated service system.  This system has contributed greatly to enhancing the lives of older individuals, family caregivers and persons with disabilities.  To view President Obama's Proclamation click here.

In 2011 Congress will consider reauthorization & amendments to the OAA.  You can lend your voice to the process by completing a survey to help identify specific areas of service the OAA should focus upon.  To participate, click here & select "submit input online".

For many older women living in a nursing home or assisted living facility in Monterey County, Mother's Day can be an especially lonely occasion.  YOU can change that.  This coming Mother's Day, honor your mother or grandmother - or their memory - by helping Ombudsman deliver orchids to women living in long-term care who may not otherwise be acknowledged on this special day.
