GRANT SOURCE UPDATE

May 2009 - Issue 11
CEO CORNER

American Recovery and Investment Act 2009

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act 2009 (ARRA) stimulus monies are making their way to our communities' front doors. Over the past several weeks, Grant Source has had the privilege of assisting with several state and county applications focused on homeless prevention, emergency shelter, and community development. We anticipate preparing funding requests for the President's proposed broadband program as well as for Arts Economic Recovery funds.

ARRA is creating unprecedented opportunities for local charities. However, in order to take advantage, organizations must be in a position to compete for the dollars. And you may ask, what can you do to position your organization as a viable candidate? You can begin by establishing accountability and organization structure. Do this by: keeping accurate program and fiscal records, tracking and measuring program outcomes, filing annual tax returns, and tangibly making a difference in the lives of your constituents.

Your organization may or may not be prepared to take advantage of this current stimulus package. If not, start today by taking the necessary steps to be ready for the next wave of opportunities. Contact Grant Source today to help your organization build its capacity to compete.
