Stay Exempt.Org: Tax Basics for Exempt Organizations

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) offers online educational resources for tax exempt organizations called Stay Exempt. Available on demand, you can view virtual workshops and web-based mini-courses on a variety of topics that will answer questions you may have regarding how to keep your 501 c 3 status, unrelated taxable income, filing an error free return, and required disclosures. The Virtual Workshop section of the site is designed to help representatives of 501 c 3s get up to speed on tax compliance. New topics are added all the time, so check the site periodically. If you are unsure of how the new 2008 filing requirements effect your nonprofit, contact Integrity Accounting Services, LLC. Be sure to mentioned that we referred you.

COMMUNITY SPOTLIGHT

Modest Needs helps low-income individuals and families by providing emergency need grants during times of crisis. Grants also serve non-profit organizations struggling to serve their communities, and whose needs are generally too small to be considered a funding priority by larger, more conventional grant-makers. Guidelines and applications are available online at the Modest Needs website.
