Greetings!
We at The Arc hope you and your family had a fun, safe and relaxing holiday weekend. Here are some exciting things we thought you should know about!
We have had a very successful fiscal year! With the closing of Rosewood Institution, Chesapeake Neighbors purchasing their first house, sustaining our annual funds and of couse, staying in the black, The Arc is one of the lucky nonprofits who have not only stayed afloat during these troubling economic times, but we have made great strides. Thanks to our members, friends and supporters, we are looking forward to another great year!
Stay tuned for a newsletter dedicated to the programs that we are undertaking to finanically help our community homes, families in need and other efforts.

| Welcome Board Members! |
On June 29th, five new Board members were sworn in in the presence of members at our annual picnic.
We'd like to welcome Sue Powell, Beth Hastings (with daughter), Josh Miller, Laura Carr, Bill Dixon and Glenn Carr. Ed Worff, past president and Dave Rosenthal, current president, are also pictured. Laura Carr was on the board and was voted into the Vice President position. Congratulations and welcome to the Board! |
| MACS Volunteer of the Year |
Our very own Christine Brown of the Down Syndrome Connection received the award on June 11th at Harris' Crab House overlooking the beautiful Chesapeake. Here is the write up they published:
Chris serves on The Arc's development committee, governmental affairs committee, is the first to volunteer to help when we are in need and serves as an unofficial liaison between the school system and families who need assistance. Perhaps most importantly, Chris was instrumental in creating The Anne Arundel County Down Syndrome Connection, an advocacy and support group for parents and siblings of children and adults with Down syndrome. Although the group focuses on the specific needs and challenges of raising children with Down syndrome, she is the first to reach out to other disability groups to lend a hand and share resources. It is clear that Chris sees the "big picture" and has the well-being of all in mind. Through Chris' commitment, The Arc's partnerships with other groups continues to grow, and has brought numerous new supporters of The Arc into our membership and movement.
Congratulations, Chris! We LOVE you!!!! |
