| A Note From Wendy |
|
Greetings! ,
I am writing this intro after driving in late last night from Seattle. I have just spent the past 24 hours with a dear high school friend who was in town for business. He and I had not seen each other in nearly 8 years and had a lot of catching up to do. As well, he offered me the opportunity to participate in his training seminar, as he is a nationally recognized corporate sales trainer. I jumped on the opportunity. I have had little exposure to the inner workings of the corporate world because I have been an entrepreneur for the majority of my working career. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and, as well, meeting a number of really interesting people in the process of the day.
I walked away with a few notable points that I can see will be beneficial to how I do business and as well, why I do business as an entrepreneur. Thorough out the day I recognized some valuable skills I had developed as an entrepreneur that would be easy to transfer into the corporate world. However, while I sat in a room full of sale teams some with their managers, I realized the immense freedom being an entrepreneur allows me.
I over heard one fellow state he worked nearly 60 hours a week in his position. I thought to myself "Wow that is a lot of work I wonder what kind of lifestyle he leads?" The freedoms that I have consciously built-into my business structure allows me to leverage my time as well what it is that I value in my life. However, I suspect that this factor has not been considered by this man in his mid-30s. As it appeared he had done what it took to reach this level on the corporate ladder and quite possibly with much personal sacrifice.
This distinction in how and why we both work made me consider how I created the momentum in building my flourishing coaching / consulting practice. Specifically, that it allows me serve more small business entrepreneurs in building the business of their dreams too.
Creating businesses based on passions to supports the lifestyle a person desires is my favourite thing to do. My own personal business is structured with a foundation of being "built to go". I decided as my children continue to grow and I have more opportunities to travel I want a business that I can do from remote locations with ease while I continue to coach, consult, and write. Until then it provides me the flexibility to still do the things that are really important to me. (Like hosting a Hawaiian themed BBQ for the members of the Little People of British Columbia for which I am on the executive board. Here I am all dressed in my Hawaiian best from this past Saturday!)
In building my business, though, I had to spend the time to evaluate those things in my life that I find of value, as well, understand that there are aspects to being an entrepreneur that are really the secrets to success! In this week's edition I share some of these in my article -- Secret Ingredients to Entrepreneurial Success Nobody Talks About!
By disclosing these secrets I also want to give small business owners the opportunity to get unprecedented support which is why I am offering a VERY SPECIAL coaching opportunity with a venture I have created with the founders of Kwik Focus - a small business focus group exclusively for owners.

Secret Ingredients to Entrepreneurial Success Nobody Talks About!
by Wendy Burge
Successful entrepreneurs all share a keen understanding that self- determination and self-discipline are the key ingredients for making success happen. However, there is other lesser known or possibly under-estimated factors which are in play, as well. I want to share some of these which are the most critical in this latter mixture. As simple as they appear to be, these points are essential because they are more about the beliefs and thoughts we possess about ourselves.
You must DECIDE that you are ready to accept all that is within your power and all that is beyond your understanding the moment you chose to step off into the entrepreneurial journey. It requires you to have faith knowing you are now on a path of purpose to serve others with the gifts and love you possess. Don't get caught up in the title of your occupation. If it is what you love to do, then STAKE YOUR CLAIM to do it. This clarity is critical. Nothing then can draw you off course once you have made the decision to fully, own your gifts out-right! No matter what problems, big or small, you encounter along the way, they'll end up becoming the uncharted opportunities to your success--all because YOU DECIDED to step into your BEING.
AWARENESS happens in stages. We all know hind-sight is 20/20. This fact is very important to take into account. Initially on this entrepreneurial journey, we judge our capabilities by the success of those who have gone before us. Thoughts like "I don't know how to..." or "I won't be able to..." must be seen as growth opportunities not hindrances in your experience. It is critical to not make decisions from where you are but, from WHERE YOU WANT TO BE! Learn from the successful people you want to model after. Then, hold that vision of what success looks like to you and fully understand you will learn what you must in time-each step leading to the next. Consider the saying "Dress for the job you want, not the job you have." Then, move into that space of intentional living.
Grow your SELF WORTH by investing in yourself. The critical factor here is what you believe about yourself is what others will sense. It is important not only to grow your business but also your understanding of who you are in the process. Stay curious about your thoughts and fears. Address them with a coach, mentor, or advisor because when you stop growing personally by staying connected to your internal thoughts your business will also stop growing and hit a plateau.
By MASTERING THE INNER GAME of sabotage you open the hidden doors inside your mind about your own fears, anxieties, and other unknown beliefs that may be counter-intuitive to your success. Remove the lynch pins to your growth. The best and most successful entrepreneurs spend thousands-up to millions-of dollars a year working with "mindset" mentors to help them stay clear and focused while they clear the internal blocks. It is not unheard of to have their businesses leap forward rapidly in profitable success and growth once they clear these invisible obstacles.
Creating a clear path of conscious self awareness also allows you to play at a bigger level. Success is never on sale! There are times when investing in your business-spending money and making larger decisions and strategic moves-will require your full-out faith about yourself and your capabilities. If you have self-doubts-like your fears raising their case against your better judgement-then you will not be able to move into that space of conscious creation and service.
BELIEFS are expanded by the people we surround ourselves with. Entrepreneurial spirit does not exist in everyone! We are a different, fearless breed! It is essential to acknowledge the importance of those within our environments and who have a similar belief system. The well-known and well-respected personal development expert, Jim Rohn states, "You are the average of the 5 people you hang around." The people in your life should be inspiring you to achieve your dreams, to step boldly into your life-supporting you in the process! IF NOT, then it's time to up-level your relationships. In business, this can be done by participating in mastermind groups, joining networking organizations, and by associating with people of influence within your industry. There are many "crabs in the bucket" that would just as easily pull you down with them at the slightest "trip", you will most definitely will have, along your path. Up grading your support systems keeps your momentum in stride whether you trip or soar. They are there with you whole heartily along the journey! © 2009 Wendy Burge - Radiant Edge Consulting.

Are you ready to jump?
Marketing can be an often dreaded part of business especially when you are a solo-entrepreneur or small business owner. The last thing you want to do is figure out HOW TO TALK ABOUT YOURSELF, to find one more way to promote your business for another newspaper advertisement, expensive mail piece, and or any other multiple ways businesses typically market in hopes to draw in a few more new clients.
Here is what I know...
Most people do not like to SELL THEMSELVES when it comes to their business. However, people who you were meant to help are spending their money with someone else who's helping them solve their problem because you haven't gotten clear about your marketing position. That is why it is essential for you to get clear about how to market your business quickly, effectively, and in a way that brings in a better return to your bottom line so you can have a greater impact on this world!
I am here to tell you, it's time to JUMP!
"It's time to take the leap ...
to really DEFINE WHO YOU ARE and
understand HOW TO MARKET
YOUR REAL VALUE in your business!"
So stop marketing like everyone else and JUMP WITH ME!
I will teach you how to position your business for those people who need you right now! Learn how I can work with you to develop a marketing blueprint for your business.

| Biz Building Resources |
I have selected some really valuable business building tools every small business needs to know about!
There are many great web based software programs on line to help assist businesses these days. These are a few I often share with clients and use my self.
1. Mozy.com - This is the best online data backup system! (It's a MUST to have a web-based backup system because you KNOW you won't do it manually yourself often enough! Plus best of all your information is always accessible at anytime online - just in case!)
2. 1ShoppingCart.com - The most used resource for online ecommerce, auto-responders, affiliate program, email marketing and more if you want to sell items for your business online--all of my colleagues and mentors use it--and me too soon!
3. ConstantContact.com - This is the email marketing program I use and you're reading right now. I recommend it if you don't have an email marketing system or shopping cart system that does this for you. It offers some great features like email archiving, survey options, and auto-responder options.
4. AudioGenerator.com - This is the easiest way to add audio to websites and emails! Set up your account, call in to activate the reording, and receive the audio formatted in html code for your website plus it gives you play buttons, etc. to put on your site. 5. PracticePaySolutions.com - This is a merchant services payment processing company most recommended by my colleagues; it works well with 1shoppingcart. 6. GoSolo.com - This is a great, inexpensive 800 phone system. I use this for my business and love that I can access my messages online. It sends me an email when someone leaves me a message. I then can log into my account to listen to it. Can't get any easier! It also offers fax, email, and web conference services as options to their packages.
7. Ning.com - This site allows you to create your own F*R*E*E social network! Do you have a select group of client programs, services, or a special interest you want to share about your business? You can create your own personal group for it and your members can talk to each other and share ideas.
8. InstantConference.com - This is a F*R*E*E conference line solution for teleclasses or recording calls of any sort. I use it and love that I can record my calls on my own private number with access code as well. Within three hours of the end of my call they email me links to my recording in an MP3 format!
11. Vistaprint.com - This is a digital web-based printing company. It offers tons of template options for business cards, brochures, postcards and more. They have SUPER promos - so make sure you get signed up on their email list. Make sure you click on your country's flag to get accurate pricing although.
12. Cafepress.com - This site is another digital printing site that allows you to set up your own online retail store. I use this site to create my own promotional items that I can purchase from myself at a great deal and or sell; like T-shirts, mugs, and tote bags all emblazoned with my logo.
