Hello again from Montana Fly Fishing Guides!  We are happy you are receiving our eNewsletter and hope you find it informative and entertaining.  Follow this link to view our past eNewsletters.

Well the spring of 2009 proved to be another successful fishing season and several of our guests enjoyed the nice weather and got to bend the rod before the summer season even got started.

We had a very good Mother's Day Caddis hatch this year which started a bit later than usual due to the cooler weather.  Fishing was particularly good during some of the massive March Brown hatches during the cloudy, cool weather.  As always the Baetis did not disappoint us in the early part of the spring.  Not sure what these hatches are?  Check out our new Interactive Hatch Chart!

If you missed out this year don't forget to take advantage of our early season discount in 2010.  See the Early Season Discount on our website to learn more and we'll hope to see you next season!

This season is shaping up for another good fishing year.  Our water is looking good with 105% of normal snow pack.  So you don't need to be much of a gambler to see that we are going to have another year of cool water all the way through August.  That means plenty of fishing opportunities and good hatches - especially for the hopper season!

If you are planning on fly fishing Montana this summer please visit our
website and if you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact us.  Our July is filling up quickly, but we still have a few guides that have some openings so don't wait much longer to book your trip for this Summer!

A couple of the Montana Fly Fishing Guides staff went down to Armstrong's Spring Creek over the Holiday weekend to scout the water and we started turning over some of the rocks to see how the PMD nymphs were doing.  We were amazed at the massive numbers that we discovered.  Many of the rocks were literally alive with PMD nymphs.  This bodes well for excellent fishing opportunities on the creeks this summer.

We still have a few rods left on the creeks so if you like sight fishing to big trout with the dry fly you won't want to miss this hatch which starts about the 20th of June and lasts until about the middle of July.

Don't wait too long to make your reservations or you'll have to wait until 2010  to fish these amazing waters.  To see what dates are still available please contact Eric Adams via email and he'll give you the low down on this great opportunity.

At Montana Fly Fishing Guides we are always working to educate our clients about the beauty and skills surrounding fly fishing.  One of our goals is to make you a more self-sufficient angler.  So even when you aren't fishing with one of our guides in Montana you'll have the knowledge and skills to enjoy your day on the water wherever you might be.

We've recently added an Interactive Hatch Chart to our website detailing many of the common hatches in our area.  If you understand some of the insects, then you can better understand how trout feed and how better to fish for those trout.  Our guide staff has spent years learning how trout behave toward these hatches and want to share that information with you.

To learn more about some of our insect hatches go to our Interactive Hatch Chart and click on the insects with an asterisk* by them.  You'll find life cycles, images and fishing techniques that we are sure will help you on your next Montana Fly Fishing vacation.

Check back in early June as we'll be adding more to this part of our website.
