Fellow Carvers,
I heard a story recently, here are the details-
A carver left their studio around midnight, & returned the next day to find out they had been broken into. The Vandals turned off the main breaker, propped open the freezer doors with 5 gallon buckets & broke some of the carvings in the freezer. Funny thing was that they only broke the carvings associated with 1 large job & left the rest alone. The other thing that seemed odd was that nothing else was stolen including tools and computers. The police felt that it wasn't the work of kids, what do you think?
Anyone who may know any details about this, please contact the authorities.
Disaster Relief
We are starting a Disaster relief stockpile. The idea is simple- retiring carvers could donate their tools to the stockpile (we would pay for shipping & warehouse them). These tools would be given to carvers that have suffered a major trajedy such as a fire, or having their van stolen with all of the tools in it. You may have some tools that you don't use, or duplicates. Do you have any tools that you are willing to donate to the stockpile? Each tool will be tagged with the donors name, so the recipient will know who the donor is.
Michael Pizzuto has generously agreed to sharpen the donated chisels, so the recipients get a funtional tool. Michael also said he will give 10% off of chisel sharpening (until 12/1/2012) to anyone who donates a chisel to the stockpile. Please send me a note if you would like to participate.
Additionally, I am encouraging NICA to create a fund where people could donate money to a similar type relief fund.
