Fellow Carvers,

The story below may inspire you to come up with a new marketing idea-

An ice sculpture of a diamond engagement ring complete with "Melissa, will you marry me?" carved into the piece won the third annual Ultimate Proposal Contest, a US-based search for the best proposal story. The contest was organised by Jewelry Information Center (JIC), the consumer education arm of Jewelers of America.

The winning proposal story was submitted by Pennsylvania resident Melissa Geer, whose fiance Daniel Monarko created the elaborate proposal including the diamond ring ice sculpture. As the grand prize winners, Geer and her fiance won a luxury all-inclusive vacation and a platinum and diamond pendant.

JIC's Ultimate Proposal Contest invited couples to submit their proposal stories at JIC's website and asked America to vote for their favourite. Over 53,000 votes were cast during the voting period. A panel of judges reviewed the 20 entries that received the most votes and selected the grand prize winner.

"Something in the Ice" is the ultimate proposal story because it has the elements that make marriage proposals special - surprise, thoughtfulness - and of course a beautiful engagement ring," said Amanda Gizzi, spokesperson for JIC.

 360 Business Booster Tip:

Sales takes Nuts-  Part 3

People don't like making decisions.  After all, to decide is to risk making the wrong choice.  So if you want to make the sale, you must be a confident voice smoothly guiding customers through a decision and affirming their choice.  In fact, I would go as far as to say that the primary job of a salesperson is to help people make decisions.
