Fellow Carvers,

We have been exprimenting with water absorbing crystals. When small quantities are added to water, amazing things happen. The above photo is ice made from those crystals. Instead of the light passing right through it & having it look like glass, this ice shimmers like a cut diamond!
Stephan suggested that we add some crystals to a centerpiece pan. Amazing, after 7 hours the ice did not overflow, merely pushed the lid up. The Centerpiece drip pans hold 2 gallons, but if you design is bigger, you might consider adding a 1/4 cup of the "Ice Krystals" to your centerpiece drip pans for insurance.
In another experiment, we filled a well with water & added 3 cups of the crystals & let it absorb the water overnight. Then we froze the block with no pumps on. The above is a closeup of that "Ice". Like me on facebook to see a short video of 3 shapes made from this "Ice" that have been out melting for 5 hours.
So far we have raised over $1700 in tools for Michael Hoffman (This does not include a set of Misono chisels that a carver is considering donating).
We will calculate the total & ship the tools and gift certificates to him next week. If you would like to buy a $50 or $100 gift certificate in his name please send me a quick note. I'll update you next week as to who the generous donors are.
Stay Cool

360 Business Booster Tip of the Week:
Sales takes Nuts- Part 1
"Nothing happens until somebody sells something."
One of the most common managerial "rah-rah cliches" of our time. However, that doesn't make it untrue. Sales is one of, if not the most dynamic area of your business to focus on, because it is active. You don't have to depend on anyone else. Waiting for customers to buy is passive, but you can always go out and sell.
