In wilderness survival training, experts tell you to select a distant landmark, such as a tall tree or mountain, as a reference to ensure that you're still heading in the right direction and not walking around in circles.  As ice-carvers, it's easy for us to get wrapped up in the day-to-day grind without checking to see whether we are really traveling towards our business and artistic goals.  It's important to revisit daily where we want to go in our lives, to get a reference point for how to live each day toward reaching our goals. After all, in the end your life is nothing more than a collection of days like today, so make today count by living reflectively and intentionally.
