Fellow Carvers,

Steve Brice made a video about chisel sharpening when he was at our studio. Follow this Link to see his technique.
Watch out for Scams!!
Jim Duggan (a fellow sculptor) had the good idea of putting something about the recent scams attempts in one of our Monday emails.
Jim wrote-
"Aaron, ok so this is how the scam we just had to deal with went down.
Last week Alicia received an e mail for 15 carvings to be picked up from a man named Charles, no problem. It went down hill from there. So after some back and forth it was obviously a scam. One, the customer did not even care what the carvings were, red flag, then he was shipping too Denmark, RED FLAG ON FIRE! So we let him string us along. He wanted to order the ice and have us pay for shipping, then give us a credit card for the total of the ice and the shipping. Then we would all have drinks in the Bahamas after I guess?
This would have been funny if the next part had not happened.
So a few days later we get an e mail from another customer who is or he says he is hearing impaired. He would like to pick up four carvings in two days, being gun shy from what had happened a few days before I new this was probably a scam also. This was confirmed when another carver in town called me to tell me a similar story, he was wondering how to handle payment. It seems this person was the same person from the prior scam on a smaller level and using the hearing impaired angle to help his story. It went as far as him using a telephone service to type and communicate to me at one point, disgusting. Three other carving companies in town had the same exact interaction with this person. All should be aware and take caution."
Please be careful, I hope no one gets scammed.
