Fellow Ice Carvers,
Shintaro Okamoto of Okamoto Studios brought up a good point recently. He (as I ) was wondering why ice sculptors sell themselves short. Rather than presenting themselves as artists, some come off as chainsaw weilding thugs. They might consider putting themselves in their customers shoes for a minute. Most customers want to put you on a pedestal & praise your art. They want to feel that they are buying from the best. I know it might feel a little foreign to use art terms. here are a few simple ideas-
1. Refer to you carving area as a studio. It implies that art is made there.
2. Use the word "composition" in a sentence with a customer. Example- "Having less design elements in a 1 block sculpture will allow for a nicer composition"
