61 Year Record
Stanley Drucker, principal clarinet of the New York Philharmonic, played his final concert in Avery Fischer Hall at New York Cities Lincoln Center June 2009 bringing a 61 year tenure to a close with the orchestra. Drucker performed the Copland Clarinet Concerto with the enthusiasm of a 19 year of Drucker. He finished his career playing one of the pieces he is well known for and did so with his usual Drucker style. He was honored during the concert with a 12 minute video presentation featruing tributes from Philharmonic conductors and colleagues. Pam and Phil Muncy were invited to attend this historic concert and to attend a reception honoring his 61 year career with the NY Philharmonic. This private reception at the Empire Hotel in NYC, included guests such as actor Alan Alda, NY Phil. musicians, and many well known clarinetists from around the world. Drucker, a true artist on the clarinet set some incredible records in his career. He was inducted into the Guinness Book of World Records for career longevity, and given honorary membership into the Philharmonic Symphony Society of New York, the first musician accorded this honor in the 167 year history of the Society. Other amazing statistics include: Performed 70% of concerts in the NY Phil. history since 1842 Number of concerts at NY Phil. approx. 10,200 Number of people attending his concerts approx. 40,802,500 Performed under 8 music directors of the NY Phil. Congratulations Mr. Drucker! We owe you a great debt for the incredible artistry you have given to us on the clarinet.

Another Great Symposium
Muncy Winds has been a sponsor of the University of Oklahoma Clarinet Symposium for more than 25 years. We have had some great symposiums and this year has been another great year. Many great performers including Diane Barger, Mitchell Estrin, David Etheridge, Denise Gainey, Jon Manasse, Eric Mandat, Thomas Martin, Michael Norsworthy, Gregory Oakes, Alcides Rodriguez, and Peter Wright just to name a few. Muncy Winds each year converges on Norman OK every June with a large selection of equipment for participants and featured artists to test. This is a great opportunity for clarinetists to meet Phil Muncy and to see how we are able to resolve problems you may have from an equipment perspective. We feature products from all the major manufactures as well as products that we produce. From reeds to clarinets we provide an opportunity to try these products and to see them in person.
Attendees are exposed to great concerts, master classes, and a wide variety of equipment. Make plans to attend next years OU Clarinet Symposium in June. You will not regret the experience. For information about the 2010 OU Clarinet Symposium contact David Etheridge.
