TEXAS MUSIC EDUCATORS CONVENTION
|
|
Best TMEA Ever The Muncy Winds exhibit at the TMEA Convention in San Antonio Texas was our best ever thanks to our many loyal customers in the Great State of Texas. Phil and Pam Muncy were able to reconnect with the many friends in their home state. Many of you remember Jenny and Sandra from last year and this year you got a chance to meet Buck. Our largest staff ever at TMEA worked very hard to help everyone.
A few of the most memorable moments were Sudi Rogers and her new low C Selmer bass clarinet, Steve Girko and the three clarinets he picked out for some of his students and Ilya Shterenberg picking clarinets out for his students, just to name a few. We always love seeing our friends in Texas at TMEA every year. For more photographs of this years TMEA visit our Muncy Winds Facebook Page above.

CRACK SEASON
|
|
Don't Let Your Instrument Crack During every season change is a time when wooden instruments are more likely to crack. Changing weather conditions often mean a change in humidity. Be certain you follow these easy steps to reduce the chances of your valuable instrument from cracking.
1) Keep your instrument case humidified above 50% preferably 70%. Use a humidity gauge to be certain.
2) Use a case cover like the Altieri to better insulate and adding a vapor barrier for your instrument.
3) Be certain to swab your instrument out after each playing session and after every ten minutes of playing.
4) Do not leave your instrument out on a stand for long periods.
5) Play the instrument regularly. Playing the instrument at least 10-15 minutes every day will help to keep your instrument properly hydrated. Prolonged storage of the instrument and then sudden playing can be harmful.
6) Keep your instrument case off the floor preferably in a closet or bureau away from heating and air conditioning vents and returns.
7) Use pad cleaning papers to wick the water away from the pads and off of the tone holes.
