| Faith Guay Scholarship Fund |
|
OK... so it's not travel related, but this one is very close to my heart.
My Mom, Faith Guay, died 29 April 2003 after a year-long battle with brain cancer. She spent 32 years as an educator, retiring as a Principal with the Scarborough school board.
Due to her unwavering support and encouragement of post secondary education, a scholarship fund was established in her memory, by the community in which she retired; Shelburne, Nova Scotia.
Each year students are chosen to receive cash rewards towards their post secondary education.
This year, $1,000 awards were given to Alex Buchanan and Morgan Harlow. Alex will be pursuing an education in Music Production and Morgan will be pursuing a degree in Pharmacy.
Congratulations to both of these deserving students!
Donations of any size are always welcome. Tax receipts are issued for donations over $10.00. If you would like to donate, please make your cheque payable to 'Faith Guay Scholarship Fund' and send them to me:

I will be happy to forward them to the Scholarship Committee. We appreciate your help!

| The Pricey Destinations Made Affordable! |
|
If you want to visit such hot getaways as Hawaii, Aspen, New York City, Paris, or Napa, you can bring a large billfold. Or you can time your visit to the periods during the year when these places are at their most affordable.
When is the best time to visit to get the most bang for your buck? It varies from destination to destination. That can mean shoulder season or even off season, or finding that window in high season when rates take a dip, if only for a couple of weeks. And it's worth the effort, because the savings can be anywhere from 20 to 50 percent off high season prices. They may not be truly "cheap" at that point, but they often become affordable.
