Greetings!

As some of you already know, I just returned from an Alaska cruise aboard the Rhapsody of the Seas.  What an awesome experience!

Surrounded by the extraordinary beauty and HUGE snow covered mountains, one feels very small in Alaska!  Pictures can't show you the feelings, but I'll include a few below anyway.

While not a party destination, everyone should visit Alaska once in their lifetime.

I promise... this newsletter is not dedicated to Alaska!  I trust you'll find something interesting or informative...  Enjoy...
Imagine... Getting your possessions back after an airplane crash!

It wasn't until after US Airways Flight 1549 had landed in the Hudson River, and passenger Karin Hill was stepping through an emergency exit onto the wing, that it hit her.

US1549"I thought, 'My coat! My purse!' " she recalls.

Hill and other passengers never dreamed they would see their possessions again. But this month, Flight 1549 passengers are starting to get special deliveries: FedEx boxes containing dried and cleaned wallets, handbags, coats, cameras, jewelry, clothing, important papers, even toothbrushes - rescued from a watery grave.

In a large, complex effort, US Airways (LCC) has with the help of a Texas-based company spent four months recovering, sorting, cleaning and restoring 36,000 passenger belongings pulled from the plane.

Inside Hill's FedEx box were her wallet and everything in it, a Swarovski crystal bracelet Rooney gave her for Christmas, a digital camera and souvenirs including a Playbill from the Broadway showWicked.

2009 Atlantic Hurricane Predictions

Ten days shy of this year's Atlantic Hurricane season, which runs from June 1 through November 30, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has released its official 2009 outlook. The word: We're most likely in for a "near-normal" season with some 9 to 14 named storms.

Officially, NOAA's National Weather Service Climate Prediction Center says that there is a 70 percent chance of having 9 to 14 named storms this year, of which four to seven could become hurricanes, including one to three major hurricanes (Category Three or higher, with winds of at least 110 miles per hour). Forecasters call for a 50 percent probability of a near-normal season, a 25 percent probability of an above-normal season and a 25 percent probability of a below-normal season.

NOAA's forecast is in line with earlier forecasts, including that of Colorado State University's weather guru Dr. William Gray, who in April predicted 12 named storms, including six hurricanes, two of which will be major storms.

But just how reliable is NOAA when it comes to forecasting?
