And be sure to track our progress on the church bulletin board. For every $5,000 we raise toward our $250,000 goal, we'll be sending a goat to an impoverished family.

Rector's Ramblings
Alleluia! Christ is Risen!
Happy Easter to all. I pray you had a blessed and joyous Easter celebration. But let me remind you that Easter is a season that lasts for 50 days. On Sunday mornings each week we will hear resurrection stories. We will hear stories about the fledgling church. We will hear stories of grace, forgiveness and mission.
Easter morning is just the beginning. The 50 days of Easter are about unveiling and rediscovering what this new life of the resurrection is like. I want to encourage all of us to remember that we must live into the resurrection. Each day we rise and pray; "Lord show me again, surprise me again, challenge me again." You see, often times we fall into patterns in our spiritual lives and our church lives which become mundane and flat. Easter is that season when we break out of our tombs and see the world and our lives in a fresh new way.
I want to encourage you to be in church each Sunday for this Season of Easter. Let the resurrection stories penetrate your heart and your life. Jesus is risen from the dead and he is calling us once again into new life. Ask Him each morning to give you eyes to see his Glory in the world around you. Ask Him to give you a heart to feel his life giving grace at work in your relationships. Ask him to reveal his will for your life so you can follow where he leads the way.
Easter is all about new life. Here's your chance to do something different in and with your life. Don't let this opportunity slip by.
Alleluia. Christ is Risen and has offered us New Life. Let's start living like it.

Thank You to the Cast of Thousands
You cannot imagine the small army of folks who give so generously of their time and talent to make Holy Week happen. We show up and worship, and we are moved by the power of the liturgy, the preaching or the music. But do we take the time to think about all the work that goes into making it a reality?
Over the last 2 weeks the people of St. Michael's have offered themselves in selfless ways so that we as a community could enter into the mystery of Jesus' sacrifice and resurrection. As the Rector, I thank everyone involved in Holy Week preparation and implementation. Your ministry allows me to focus my energy and attention upon those tasks and functions that only the priest can do. It is the ministry of all the believers that makes the life, worship and community of St. Michael's so vibrant and powerful. I want to thank the acolytes, lay readers, ushers, greeters, altar guild, flower guild, the folks who make and fold the bulletins, the office staff, those who attended the liturgies, the volunteers who carried the cross on Good Friday, the child care staff, the office and anyone I may have forgotten. I want to particularly thank the ministry leaders who work so hard delegating and coordinating the many folks in these ministries. Everything rises and falls on leadership, therefore I thank you for your leadership.
Finally, I want to thank my wife and children who extend so much grace to me during Holy Week as I am often preoccupied and unavailable. Thank you for your love and support.
Together we are the body of Christ and together we are Church. Well done, St. Michael's.

50th Anniversary "Re-creation Weekend" June 4-5
The 50th Anniversary Event Team announces our next event, "Re-Creation Weekend" on June 4-5. With spring fast upon us (if it would just stop raining), we are all chomping at the bit to get on our bicycles, fishing boats, sail boats and running shoes. Spring is that time in Wisconsin when we shed our winter jackets and re-create ourselves. It is like coming alive again through the activities we all enjoy.
The 50th Anniversary Team is sponsoring a weekend where we share with each other those things we do to re-create ourselves, the activities through which God refreshes and renews our spirits and bodies. You may be a tennis player or golfer or fisherman. You may be a hiker, cycler, gardener or camper. The idea behind the "Re-creation Weekend" is to connect folks around the activities we already love and do. You may have been sitting in the pew each Sunday right behind someone who shares your love of hiking and didn't even know it. We want to make those connections so the people of St. Michaels will build long lasting relationships around the actives we love.
So to that end, on June 4 we are going to be offering a whole range of activities that you can participate in - or even host if you would like to. There are going to be bike rides ranging from a family ride to Cliffside Park, to a 50-mile ride to commemorate our anniversary. There is going to be a 5k walk/run. There will be a golf outing, tennis round robins, hikes, walks, fishing trips sailing trips.
The day will culminate in a cookout at St. Michael's, and in the evening a bonfire and family campout on the field behind St. Michael's. There may be activities in the evening such as ballroom dancing, or bridge games or going to the movies. Sunday morning we will all come to church at the 9 a.m. service, and we will thank God for all these activities and hobbies he has given us through which our lives are renewed and enlivened. There will be a time where we bless the equipment we use to recreate, from golf clubs to bicycles, tennis rackets to bowling balls, fishing rods to campers. It will be a great day to connect, share and recreate.
Mark your calendars for June 45 - St. Michaels 50th Anniversary "Re-creation Weekend." You won't want to miss it!

Blessed are those...
Blessed are those to whom Easter
is not a hunt ... but a find;
Not a greeting ... but a proclamation;
Not an outward fashion ... but inward grace;
Not a day ... but an eternity.
