Greetings!

There's always something fun going on in our little town! Last weekend was the Mountain Cruise car show (300-plus classics!) and the Wallowa Mtn. Quilters Guild quilt show! What a great weekend!  For complete event schedules, go to www.WallowaCountyChamber.com and click on "events."
Joseph Car Show 2010
The Sagebrush Shop hop is coming up!  You'll want to collect your quilting buddies and plan a ROAD TRIP!  All of the shops are planning cool stuff...door prizes and give-aways.  At the first shop you visit you'll receive your passport, a FREE totebag (to the first 200 visitors), and a FREE quilt block kit.  Those that visit all 10 shops will also receive a professionally designed quilt pattern (the quilt that all of the shops will have on display & specifically designed for this hop), and be entered into the drawing for the GRAND PRIZE...a Singer Featherweight machine!  The second tier of prizes is really sweet too!  Dates for the hop are July 10 through the 17th...giving you two weekends to complete.  Hours are Monday through Saturday, 9 to 6, Sunday, 10 to 4:00.

The 10 shops are the two right here in Wallowa County, Cattle Country (that's us!), and Savoie's Specialities.  Others are Aunty Ida's (Hermiston) Pendleton Quiltworks (Pendleton), Claudson's and Quilt Therapy in La Grande, Traditions and La Donna's in Baker City, Quilts Plus (Halfway), and The Charm Shack in Ontario.  You can go to our website, www.CattleCountryQuilts.com and download a flyer that includes a map to all of the shops, but keep in mind that the recent rains have made the road from Joseph to Halfway impassable. You'll need to schedule a couple of extra hours into your trip so you can access Quilts Plus in Halfway.
Be sure to make contact with any questions!  Our email is cattlecntryqlts@eoni.com, and phone is 541-432-6669.

Beverly Strenge brought her gorgeous batik quilt to the shop. It's a modified attic windows. Beverly & family are from Richland, WA and have vacationed at Wallowa Lake for many years. Many of the batiks are from our shop.  YAAAYYY!!Thanks for sharing, Beverly!

Machine Repair Continues

Randy Pritchitt, technician from La Grande continues to repair machines here at our shop on the THIRD Wednesday of each month.  He needs 4 machines in order to make the trip from La Grande, so call and get your name and machine info on our list.  Once we accumulate 4 machines, we will schedule him.  Many quilters here in the County have had him work on their machines...and we've all had good results!
Create at the Lake Retreat

Although our fun retreat, Create at the Lake, to be held September 24-25-26, 2010, is technically filled, there are a few people that haven't yet paid their deposit.  So...bottom line is...if you're interested in participating, give us a call & get on the waiting list!  We don't need your full payment until JULY 1 , but a deposit will hold your spot!
Ellen C. made this incredible quilt at the 2009 retreat! It's gorgeous...and just like most quilters, she is giving it away. Ellen's daughter is anxiously awaiting it!

BLOCK OF MONTH 2010-2011 -- PRECUT PIZZAZZ!

We've been planning (plotting??) some great things for the 2010-2011 Block of the Month program.  Sue's heading it up for us this year and she has some fun surprises in store for you!

Cost-wise, the 2010-2011 program will be the same as last year.  You'll pay $10 when you join, which is the ONLY cost for the ENTIRE program...through May of 2011.  Of course there is a CATCH....you must attend every month & pick up your own kit.  If you don't attend each month's meeting (there are two opportunities each month ... the first Saturday morning and the first Tuesday evening), you must pay to re-join.

A few of the PERKS:  Free fabric each month, prizes to the top quilter that uses the most fabric each month, store-wide discounts to all BOM'ers on BOM day, refreshments and plenty of laughter.

The person that uses the MOST fabric during the entire program (October 2010 through May 2011), will win a $50.00 gift certificate...second wins $35 and third wins $15.00.

To kick off the 2010-2011 BOM Season, we're planning our FIRST ANNUAL IN-HOUSE QUILT SHOW, featuring all of the projects from the 2009-2010 BOM.  (That means all BOM'ers from '09-'10 need to get those quilts bound, etc.) :-)  Please plan to bring your BOM quilts to our shop September 27 (or before), so we can get them hung in the shop.  The show will begin October 2, which is the first day of the 2010-2011 BOM and will run througout that week.

So...things to remember:
2010-2011 BOM kicks off October 2
Bring your '09-'10 quilts September 27 (or before)
BOM in-house quilt show runs October 2 through Oct. 9
BOM cost: $10 for entire season
BOM dates: First Saturday AND First Tuesday, each month
BOM times:  Saturday:  9:00 a.m. to 10:00; Tuesday 6:00 to 7:00 p.m.
Rules:  Must attend one session each month or re-join

Sue has some great things planned...her patterns are all centered on pre-cuts....jelly rolls, turnovers, layer cakes, etc.  IT'S GONNA BE FUN SO DON'T MISS OUT!
The shop is filled (and almost over-flowing) with tons of new fabric.....luscious, tempting, inspiring new fabrics!!!

Come see us!  We LOVE Company!
