The impact disabilities have on individuals can vary greatly from being a short term adjustment, to a life long lifestyle change. Have you thought about the effect that a serious illness or debilitating accident would have on your every day life and retirement planning?
Individual Disability Income Insurance from Principal Insurance can help protect your ability to receive income if you have a qualifying disability so that you don't have to rely on your hard-earned savings to cover daily living expenses. This policy is non-cancellable and has guaranteed premium rates for the duration of the policy. It also protects you if you are unable to work in your occupation - unlike similar policies that only pay benefits if you are unable to work in any occupation. Additional features also include future increase opportunities without medical underwriting, residual disability benefits if you are not totally disabled, and cost of living adjustments to keep up with inflation. Finally, these benefits are tax-free upon distribution when you pay your premiums with after-tax dollars.
A Business Overhead Expense Policy from Principal Insurance is also non-cancellable and has guaranteed premium rates for the duration of the policy. This policy reimburses you for covered business expenses such as rent, salaries, utilities, loan payments, etc. while you are sick or too injured to work. The competitive product design includes several built-in benefit components as well as optional riders to help you customize your policy to best fit your individual needs. Riders include a future increase opportunity, residual disability benefits, and business loan protection.
If you would like more information about the Disability Program, please email Holmes Murphy & Associates at voluntarybenefits@holmesmurphy.com. When emailing voluntarybenefits@holmesmurphy.com with an inquiry or request for a quote, please declare as to whether you are a UFAA Member, a UFAA Affiliate, a Farmers Agent or a District Manager. This will save a lot of time in the initial question answer response portion.
*The policies are individually underwritten and end at age 70.* Don't Miss the Disability Program Webinar on Monday, Sept 10th 10AM Central Time. Here is how to access the webinar

Okla. Gov. Mary Fallin Forces State-wide Burn Ban- On Aug 3rd, only 25 counties had burn bans in place when Gov. Fallin forced a state-wide burn ban in all 77 counties of the state due to the extreme drought conditions that is predicted to the driest period in state history. MANNFORD, OK--(Marketwire - Aug 6, 2012) - A Farmers Mobile Claims Catastrophe Bus will be ready to help Farmers customers and victims of the fires in Mannford and surrounding areas tomorrow morning. The bus will be at Farmers Agent Kent Russell's office from 8:00 a.m. till 7:00 p.m., starting tomorrow August 6. The address is: 200 West Trower Boulevard in the city of Mannford, OK 74004 "We invite all of our customers to come to the bus and receive immediate claims help, water, and supplies," said John Lucido, Farmers Oklahoma State Executive Director. "The bus is 46' x 13' and has claims stations to help our customers with all of their needs. It also has state-of-the-art satellite communications equipment, satellite phones and laptops," he said. "Meanwhile, Insurance claims personnel, agents, district managers and employees throughout the Oklahoma fire areas have contacted, and are helping victims of the fires," Lucido added. "We want all of our customers to know that our goal is to give immediate assistance to all customers who have suffered damage from these fires that have burned more than 55,000 acres," Lucido said. Lucido advises that all customers who have suffered damage from the storms should call their agent or the 24-hour Farmers HelpPoint hotline number at: 1-800-HelpPoint (1-800-435-7764), for immediate assistance. Foremost Insurance customers should file their claim by calling: 800-527-3907. Farmers customers can also go to www.Farmers.com or download the free iClaim app to file a claim. Destruction update: 08/14/2012- Keli Bruer of Oklahoma Emergency Management tells KRMG a total of 423 homes were damaged in Creek County.
Of those, 376 homes were destroyed. Destruction in those cases was total; almost nothing whatsoever could be recovered from the ashes.
Bruer says 83 percent of the homeowners in the affected area had no property insurance.
Their hopes for monetary assistance now hinge on a federal disaster declaration. Governor Mary Fallin made the request for that declaration Monday. Bruer tells KRMG it could be a matter of days, or possibly weeks, before the decision is made at the federal level. Statewide, more than 600 homes were destroyed by the wildfires.

Did You Get a $200 Deduction for the AMP Co-op Direct Mail Program?
Dear Okie Voice, Please remind your readers of the blooper made by AMP vendor- Farmers Ad-vantage. No one seems to know what happened but, hundreds perhaps thousands of agents were tagged for a $200 deduction on the August, 2012 folio. According to the ServicePoint Accounting Dept., they fielded hundreds of calls from agents questioning the deduction. I did a little investigation thinking the DM may have force place me in the program after I had opted-out. But, no one knew enough about what had happened and stated the charges were across the board and not isolated to any particular region, state or district.
Accounting stated a field bulletin would be placed on Dashboard advising agents of the problem and the expected correction and deposit date of funds. However, Farmers Ad-vantage stated the agent must send in a copy of the deduction schedule to receive the return of funds. It's still early in the process so, the procedures are subject to change. I just wanted you to know about your $200 loss if you are not an AMP participant. Okie Agent
Dear Okie, Thanks for the heads up. I was stung for the deduction like many others. I emailed Ad-vantage proof of the deduction asking for confirmation of my email and the date I could expect the $200 deposit in my account. I received neither! However, it was deposited about 2 weeks later. Thanks again. -ed

If you're one of the 200 million wireless customers of AT&T or Verizon, it's time to make a decision about shared data plans.
Verizon rolled out its Share Everything plans to new customers back in June. The mobile operator allows current customers to stay on tiered plans if they prefer. Those on grandfathered unlimited plans must switch to a tiered plan or a Share Everything pla n to get a subsidized phone.
AT&T's Mobile Share launches Aug. 23. The carrier has said it will continue to offer traditional plans to new and current customers. Those with grandfathered unlimited plans can keep them.
Even if you're happy with your tiered or grandfathered unlimited plan, it pays to learn the ins and outs of these new shared data plans. A shared plan might save your family money and offer more features than you're getting now.
