Last week, business owners attended a private breakfast conference with Mayor Cory Booker to learn about green business opportunities in Essex County.
During this special VIP Breakfast Conference held at Rutgers-Newark Paul Robeson Center, the
Lincoln Park Coast Cultural District (LPCCD) and partners announced plans to launch the 1st Annual Essex County Green Business Summit. "Essex County business owners and residents want to know how they can become engaged in the emerging green economy. The program facilitated dialogue and provided a platform to access critical information for a diverse audience," comments LPCCD Executive Director, Baye Adofo-Wilson.
The City of Newark Mayor Cory A. Booker and Rutgers University- Newark Chancellor, Steve Diner provided opening remarks at the VIP breakfast program. Panelists discussed the broad implications of the emerging green economy and addressed questions about the federal stimulus package and incentives for green businesses. They provided examples of business opportunities in the green economy for green collar job training and new green businesses. Goals were set for the upcoming summit which will provide information, access and solutions targeting Essex County businesses and residents.
LPCCD and Ecoventions, a New York city-based firm experienced in planning green business summits, along with Rutgers University's Center for Urban Entrepreneurship & Economic Empowerment are planning the 1st Annual Essex County Green Business Summit to be held October 9, 2009. The 1st Annual Essex County Green Business Summit will include a green business expo, a keynote luncheon and informative break-out sessions. The summit seeks to provide a green business network. It also seeks to provide information on how to attain environmentally responsible practices, measure these efforts and sustain them into the future. Summit topics will range from energy efficiency, renewable energy, MBE and WBE opportunities in the green economy and green purchasing power.
