Ever been in a meeting that went nowhere? Perhaps its purpose wasn't clear from the start, or the conversation might have been dominated by one or two people. Maybe there were lots of great ideas but nothing concrete ever happened afterward.

Good facilitation skills can make all the difference. Our Family's Center for Community Dialogue is offering several upcoming trainings to help you and your team get more out of your meetings:

ToP Facilitation Methods: If you convene meetings regularly -- at work, in your neighborhood association, at your church or as a volunteer with a community group -- this training is for you. Two-day training August 23 and 24 will teach you three key skills: focused conversation, consensus workshop, and action planning.

Circles Process Level 1: When you need an in-depth group conversation on an important topic, the Circles Process is a highly effective method to ensure all voices are heard in a respectful, safe way. (This is the method the Center uses to conduct its successful community forums. If you would like to volunteer with us as a forum facilitator, this is a required course.) Choose one of three trainings coming up September 11, September 25 and November 13.

Basic Mediation Training: Our Family has offered this course for more than 30 years, teaching hundreds of Southern Arizonans how to change their relationship with conflict. Participants learn the theory behind conflict transformation and are prepared to mediate a variety of workplace and personal conflicts. (This course is required to become a volunteer mediator with Our Family.) Dates: October 3, 4, 5, and 10, 11 and 12. (You must attend all 6 days.)
