Our Family Services and New Beginnings for Women & Children to merge July 1

Sue Krahe
"Both organizations are in great shape, and this is a positive move for everyone. Coming together like this will help us stay strong, stable and efficient so we can keep helping folks who need us." -- Sue Krahe
After months of due diligence, the boards of directors of Our Family Services and New Beginnings for Women & Children are excited to announce they have voted to merge the agencies on July 1, 2012.

Sue Krahe, Executive Director of Our Family since 1991, will retire at the end of June and entrust the leadership of the organization to New Beginnings Executive Director Patti Caldwell, MSW.

Caldwell has been with New Beginnings since January 2011 and has been active in the community in social work and nonprofit executive management for more than 30 years.

Our Family will remain the name of the merged organization, while our vastly expanded continuum of homeless services will take on the respected name of New Beginnings. These combined homeless programs help more than 3,000 children, youth and families achieve safety and independence each year.

Together, all of Our Family's programs, which also include information and referral, counseling, mediation, training, prevention, and services for older and disabled adults, will touch the lives of more than 25,000 Southern Arizonans annually. The newly merged Our Family will have nearly 100 employees and a budget of more than $5 million.

Patti Caldwell
"Since the agencies do not duplicate services, this merger will provide a broader scope of care for Tucson's homeless youth and families." -- Patti Caldwell

Combining the strengths of two organizations whose services are more important than ever to families and youth in Tucson will ensure that our vital programs survive and thrive.

Our board and staff are excited to welcome Patti Caldwell as our new executive director. Hand-in-hand with New Beginnings, we are working hard to create an agency that continues to evolve and respond to our community's ever-changing needs while maintaining our commitment to professionalism and quality services.

We appreciate your continued support as we enter this new chapter of service to our community.

Save this date: Help celebrate Sue Krahe's career and legacy of service to the agency, our clients and the community at a reception in her honor the evening of June 28. Details to come.
