Message from the President
Alicia Mutch, ABWA Chapter PresidentIt's May, and we have just two meetings left in our 2009-2010 ABWA year before we wrap up the year. As the President, I'm a little shocked at how quickly the year has gone by, but I'm pleased with our meeting venue at Charlie's as well as the caliber of our dinner meeting speakers and topics. This month, we will be learning all about blogging, a topic that many of you have expressed an interest in learning about.

Inspiration from the Ground Up
Our Inspiring Women Scholarship Fundraiser is complete, and I'm very pleased to see the results we achieved in a year when people are being more selective in the causes they donate money to. See the article below for more details. This year, along with Sonoma State and Santa Rosa Junior College, we will also be awarding scholarships to Empire College. Stay tuned until our June meeting to meet our scholarship recipients.

Get Out the Vote

Our May meeting is typically when we vote for our Woman of the Year and vote for our incoming officers for next year. This year, we're still going to vote for the Woman of the Year, but we're not going to vote for incoming officers. Instead, we're going to vote on whether or not to disband as an ABWA chapter. Now, before you react with shock, you should know that we're not going to stop being an association of business women. Many members have expressed a desire to no longer be associated with ABWA so that we can dramatically streamline our dues and the structure of our meetings. We are responding to the feedback we've received all year and are moving forward into the next phase of our organization. If you have ideas for the new structure of our organization, you can bring your ideas to the May meeting as well as to any of the officers on our current board of directors. We're taking your suggestions very seriously and are excited about the new form that our group will take next year!

See you soon!
