Message from the President
ReflectionsHere I am, writing the last newsletter of the 2008/2009 ABWA year. There's a lot to reflect on for this past year. I have enjoyed being your president tremendously, and I'm pleased with the quality of women in our group. The economy has been in a tailspin all year, yet we still managed to pull off a successful Scholarship Fundraiser and award over $12,000 to 10 women at Sonoma State and the Santa Rosa Junior College with seed money for next year as well. Our holiday party at Simi was a lot of fun, and we've seen a lot of new faces over the course of the year. Our new venue, the Fountaingrove Golf & Athletic Club, has been very generous with us, their food has been great, and we're looking forward to continuing our relationship with them. Changes for Next YearAs the economy continues its slow trudge back up to prosperity, there are many networking organizations that might be calling you to join them, and we are committed that your experience with ABWA makes a difference for your business and for your life. One of the things we're going to do next year to better serve our membership is to streamline our meetings. We will be placing a greater emphasis on the guest speakers, and they will speak for 45 minutes. The topics will focus on Business Development, and include speakers who will help our member businesses achieve a cutting edge lead in our current economy in a wide variety of topics. The remainder of the meeting will focus on business networking. It will be a wonderful balance of education and networking which I know many of you will be very pleased with. Everything else, such as board member and committee reports, will go in the newsletter for you to peruse at your leisure. I'm excited with the idea of the new format, and I know it will make our meetings much more impactful and dynamic. Archived NewslettersSpeaking of the newsletter, all of the copies of the newsletters from the 2008/2009 year have been archived, and they are all listed on our website in the newsletter section. If you've had difficulty opening the newsletters this past year, you can visit them online and be able to read them there! Next Meeting on June 16
Our next dinner meeting will be held on Tuesday, June 16 at the Fountaingrove Golf and Athletic Club in the clubhouse at the top of the hill. The address of the club is 1525 Fountaingrove Parkway in Santa Rosa. We will be networking from 6:30 to 7:00, and our dinner meeting begins at 7:00. All members and guests are welcome. The June meeting is our awards night. We will be awarding scholarships as well as the Woman of the Year award, and we will be inducting new officers to our Board of Directors. Please bring your marketing materials with you to display at the marketing table and network, network, network. Please bring a bottle of wine with you to share with your table. Wine and alcoholic beverages are also available for purchase from the club. The price of the dinner meeting is $37.50 for members and $42.50 for guests. Members who bring a guest with them get a $5 discount on their dinner. Please be kind and thoughtful to our Vice President of Hospitality, Judith Light, and make your reservations by noon on Friday, June 12. We need to know how many meals to reserve ahead of time. We love early RSVPs!

Desperately Seeking a Treasurer
Our Board of Directors is in desperate need of a Treasurer for the 2009/2010 year. Barbara Zimmerman was our treasurer from 2006-2008, and Amy Jasmer has been our treasurer for the past year. Both of them did outstanding jobs at keeping our books up to date, maintaining our 501(c)3 nonprofit status, and preparing budgets for our chapter. Our accounts are kept updated on Quicken, and Amy says that it's a pretty low-maintenance job now that all of the legwork has been done. If one of our members doesn't step up to the plate for this position, our chapter will be in dire straits. We are all volunteers in this organization, and we appreciate all of the support that our membership has to offer. You can contact Amy Jasmer to find out the responsibilities of the treasurer, and you can contact Rachael Erickson to discuss the possibility of stepping up to the position. You don't need to be an accountant or a bookkeeper to be our treasurer. If you can balance your checkbook, we would love to have you join us. Thank you so much for your support!

Summer Mixers!
Please come to our ABWA Social on Monday, June 22, at 6:00 PM at Irene Turner's home in Sebastopol. For directions and to RSVP, please email Irene Turner. Let's carpool if we can. Also, if you can bring a bottle of wine, that would be helpful. The Wine Country ABWA chapter loves wine. Let's hang out together and have some fun! Chris Parr-Feldman Vice President, Membership
