Message from the President
Got Moxie?I don't know about you, but I'm still glowing from the resounding success of our Moxie and Marvels scholarship fundraiser last month (or maybe I'm just glowing from the memory of how HOT it was!). What a great event! Let do that again next year! It's hard to believe that it's May already, and now that the fundraiser is over, we're beginning to wind down our 9th year. But before we do, here are some important things that are coming up for our chapter: Member SurveyAt our May meeting, we will be passing out a Member Survey. This is your opportunity to give us feedback on how the year went for you, and give us any suggestions you have for improving our organization next year. Please take the time to fill out the survey. Your feedback is extremely important to us! Board of DirectorsWe are now accepting nominations for next year's board of directors. If ABWA is important to you and you would like to keep a good thing going, consider serving on our board. We especially are looking to fill the slots of Treasurer and Secretary. If we don't have a board, we don't have an ABWA Wine Country Chapter. If you're interested in finding out more, please contact Rachael Erickson . Woman of the YearWe will also be nominating our Woman of the Year at our May meeting. The winner will be acknowledged at our June meeting, which includes our awards night and new officer installation. Summer MixersWe're hoping to get a few mixers in this summer. If you are interested in sponsoring a mixer at your home or office, please contact Chris Parr-Feldman. See you soon! -Alicia Mutch

Next Meeting on May 19
Our next dinner meeting will be held on Tuesday, May 19 at the Fountaingrove Golf and Athletic Club in the clubhouse at the top of the hill. The address of the club is 1525 Fountaingrove Parkway in Santa Rosa. We will be networking from 6:30 to 7:00, and our dinner meeting begins at 7:00. All members and guests are welcome.
Our guest speaker will be Allison Hurley, a police officer with the Healdsburg Police Department. She will be giving us a demonstration of self defense techniques. With the recent attacks on women in the Santa Rosa area, her timing couldn't be more appropriate. We will also be passing out member surveys as well as nominating the new board of directors and the Woman of the Year. It will definitely be an action-packed meeting! Please bring your marketing materials with you to display at the marketing table and network, network, network. Please bring a bottle of wine with you to share with your table. Wine and alcoholic beverages are also available for purchase from the club. The price of the dinner meeting is $37.50 for members and $42.50 for guests. Members who bring a guest with them get a $5 discount on their dinner. Please be kind and thoughtful to our Vice President of Hospitality, Judith Light, and make your reservations by noon on Friday, May 15. We need to know how many meals to reserve ahead of time. We love early RSVPs!

Scholarship Fundraiser Update
Our Moxie and Marvels scholarship fundraiser was a resounding success! We sold 118 event tickets and 315 raffle tickets. We earned over $4000 from the live and silent auctions, and we earned over $11,000 in scholarship money after expenses! Way to go in a depressed economy! But more importantly, we all worked together to make it a success. Oh yeah, and it was fun, too! We will be awarding the scholarships to the Santa Rosa Junior College and Sonoma State recipients at our June meeting. Thank you to everyone who helped out in one way or another. Congratulations!
