Our Homes on the Web:
Vol. 1, Issue 9 | September 2012
Wow, I simply cannot believe it is the end of September, although I can't say I'm surprised.
On September 3rd I remember saying to myself, "Before you know it, September will be over." And, whoosh, so it is. Time has really been speeding up more and more - have you noticed? And, while at times I feel anxious that there isn't enough time to do all that is needed, I also feel a sense of excitement as we barrel on to the end of 2012.
What does Spirit have in mind for us? Are the 1,000 years of peace just around the bend?
I don't have many answers, but I do know that I must continue working on me, waking up to all that I can be, all that actually I am, and be of service to others. My intentions need to be clear and pure... and, I need to operate from a space of peace, and love, and joy.
Showering with Spirit
I so love being in the shower. It's not just that I'm a water person (a Cancerian), but I find it to be such a peaceful place. Shower time is prayer and meditation time for me!
Singing in general is a form of prayer for me. Even when I was an atheist, I felt something special inside me when I sang. When I came to believe, I realized what that feeling had been: connection with Spirit.
So, I'm usually singing in the shower, maybe even chanting. It might be only within my head, or in an outward alto voice, fortissimo
. Sometimes I get into contemplation mode. Other times, I pray for others.
It really is a great time to connect with Spirit. And, when I don't have to rush off but can luxuriate in slow mode... well, it's pure heaven.
Warm water soothing my body, warm thoughts and feelings soothing my soul.
God is everywhere, blessing me in often simple ways...
AVG, a security technologies company, issues a quarterly threat report. Here's an overview from their report released in July 2012.Socially engineered attacks
, which deceive mobile device users into downloading and then enabling malware to run as root, have increased. PC-based malware that was socially engineered was also identified, including an email scam targeting Asian markets and the U.S., as well as an attack using celebrity sex videos and fake antivirus to entrap people. Mobile
: Cybercriminals continued their focus on the Android operating system for smartphones. Given Android now holds more than 50% of the market share, it will increasingly become a lucrative attack vector. Mobile users were tricked into downloading malware that was hidden in seemingly legitimate applications. This then allows the hacker to monetize from the infected device as they wish, and to download additional malicious code or connect the device to a botnet
. Threat geography
: One notable theme in the last three months was the amount of malware originating from China. Email scams and malicious Android applications uploaded to third party application markets were just two of the threats identified. These targeted China and in some cases, neighboring countries as well as the United States.Read the full report

Forwarding Your e-Newsletter
Don't assume your friends and colleagues are going to forward your emails. Sometimes, you have to ask them to do so. You already ask for your customers' email addresses (right? I hope so!). So why hesitate to ask customers to pass along your valuable content as well...
Putting call-to-action pass-along messages in your email - not just at the bottom, but throughout your message - will help build referrals and grow your list. This is what referral marketing is all about.
Now, of course, your content has to be worth sharing
There are a few ways to work the call-to-forward action into your content. First and easiest is...
The Latest Plugin Adventure
You've read it here before: there MUST be a plugin to do whatever one wants to do on a WordPress site. Wanting to incorporate the workshop signup process directly into our Websites and Coffee website, and provide an example for other WordPress users, we took our own advice. Rog and I searched for a WordPress plugin to enable folks to register for our workshops in a different way than the current one.
Well, I spent days testing plugins to handle event registration. There being only three pages of plugins to choose from should've been a hint that this might be quite a complicated process for a programmer to develop and perhaps for moi to make sense of... Still, I forged ahead.
Well, we've now got the plugin up and running in time for our October schedule of website, e-newsletter, and marketing clarity workshops. If you register for one of our workshops, you'll get the opportunity to see it in action. We greatly welcome your comments.
Here's what I gleaned from this exercise...
I saw some yellow leaves on the grass this morning, so I guess I can no longer deny autumn is here. It's a time to start slowing down, a natural opportunity to be inside more, contemplate, refuel the spirit. I'm saying this to you - and I'm saying it to myself...
Until next we meet -
Yours in Spirit,
Joyce S. Kaye
(AKA The Computer Spirit)
Joyce "came to believe" in a Higher Power about 22 years ago. Thanks to hearing the novel idea that one could choose their own concept of God, and the workings of synchronicity, Joyce embarked on a new way of thinking, a new way of living, a new way of being in the world and with others. Since that time of commencing her conscious spiritual journey, she has endeavored to remember The Presence in all that is, all whom she meets, and all that she does - including working with others and their computer projects!
