Greetings!

Welcome to the inaugural issue of The Computer Spirit's e-newsletter!  I'm so excited to bring you this long-time-in-the-works publication. As is so often the case with my clients, I'm slow in doing for myself what I advise my clients to do. But today is different - today I'm taking the plunge!

So perhaps you're thinking, "Oh no, yet another e-newsletter in my Inbox..."  Well, first let me say, generally speaking, I'll be going to press just once a month. Second, since I will cover a variety of topics, I trust at least some portion of the words written within will provide value to you.  It might be in the realm of spiritual or personal growth; becoming more computer and Internet savvy; learning email marketing (newsletter) facts and tips, or gaining words of wisdom about website development and design. Hence, I hope you'll be inclined to check out each issue, glean what you can from it, and perhaps even pass it on.

I trust the new year has already proven to be adventurous and rich in learning despite its infancy, and I look forward to connecting with you monthly via this e-newsletter - and in other realms too - throughout what promises to be a most exciting year for us all.  As we make our way through it, may we all remember we are not alone!

Blessings,

Spiritual/Personal
A Helpful Tool: The Gratitude List

GratitudeThere's nothing like writing out a gratitude list to lift your mood, your spirit. But why is that so? Well, I think it's because we get into the present, the now, and that is the only real place. And, there is where God is. Focusing on what we are thankful for opens our heart and allows even more grace to flow in. It attracts the frequency of grace.

Expressing gratitude on a regular, consistent basis puts one in the flow. Writing a gratitude list each evening (physically or mentally) is a peaceful way to end the day and drift off to Dreamland. And, writing one out in the morning will easily get you out of a funk if you woke up on the wrong side of the bed!

Why not try it? Write me - I'd love to hear about your experience!

Word Tables

Did you know that a table is one of Word's most useful tools for organizing text, numbers, and graphics?

Tables are a powerful means of communicating information, yet they're flexible and easy to use. Use them to neatly align your work. Also, Word makes it easy to convert tabular text to tables. This is handy if you create a tabular document and realize later that it would have been easier to work within a table format.

A wide variety of formatting may be applied to tables. For example, you can add shading, remove borders, merge or split table cells. And, you can use a table for something as simple as a schedule...

What are you currently working on that might be better organized in a Word table?

How to Get More Contacts to Open Your e-Newsletters

I love e-newsletters! Each e-newsletter is a little piece of art with a purpose; that purpose is to help us reach out to those we care about Increase Open Ratesand who care about us in a way that connects us and grows our relationship.

If you have viewed your Open Rate (the number of individuals who were sent the email and have opened it) and it doesn't compare to your industry's average Open Rates, and/or you feel that your relationships are not blossoming the way you'd like them to, you might want to improve the Open Rate. To increase your Open Rate, you need to re-evaluate three things:
  1. Content
  2. Delivery day and time
  3. Contact list quality and age

1. Content:

  • Check your content.
Use a recognizable "From" name. Make sure you use a "From" name and address that includes your name, company, product, or service name - whichever the recipient will know best. When you repeatedly brand the "From" line like this over time, you assure the recipient that the email is coming from a reliable and trusted source and builds familiarity and credibility.
  • Grab them with the "Subject" line.
Most e-mail providers can accommodate a subject line of up to 60 characters but... [read more]

Website Development and Design
Do You Need A Website?

There are many reasons for developing and maintaining your own website. You may want to get noticed by a lot of people or sell a lot of product, or Internet Explorer iconyou may just want a place to present yourself in a more detailed or graphic way to those you already know.

A website is a place that draws attention. Search engines actively seek your information to match online viewers looking for what you're offering to your site. You'll want to let your community know about your website too. Your website address should be on every piece of marketing material you use.

Once viewers come to your site, you'll want to hold them there. Valuable content is key. Attractive images and intuitive navigation are critical. [Read more...]

bottomgodwordJoyce "came to believe" in a Higher Power about 22 years ago when she started practicing the Twelve Step way of life. Thanks to hearing the novel idea "Why don't you choose your own conception of God?" (Alcoholics Anonymous, page 12), Joyce immediately embarked on a new way of thinking, a new way of living, a new way of being in the world and with others.  Since then, she has endeavored to remember The Presence in all that is, all whom she meets, and all that she does - including working with others and their computer projects!
