Your support has allowed WLT-US to buy and save 7,076 acres of the highly threatened Chocó rainforest in Colombia. In March 2012, we officially launched the new Las Tangaras Nature Reserve that protects one of the most unique rainforests on earth. Saving the Santa Marta Toro In early 2012, with support from our donors and a generous match, WLT-US was able to assist our partner, ProAves, with the acquisition of a 604 acre property called "La Cumbre". The area stands out as by far one of the single most important areas within the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta mountains as it is the core surviving area of forest for the Santa Marta Toro, a nocturnal mammal that had been thought to be extinct for over 113 years and was just rediscovered in 2011.
