| Second Saturday Art Walk / Featuring Raku Art |
We are proud to feature our raku pieces for September's Second Saturday Art Walk event, to be held on 9/13/08 from 4:00pm to 9:00pm.
Taylor's art & soul currently represents four raku artists, and each one has their own unique take on the art form.
William Turner is known for his vivid colorations, resulting from the reaction of his glazes to the firing process. Aron Frogge creates each of her pieces using slab construction techniques, ensuring that each vessel is unique. John Dodero uses a traditional ceramic glaze in the raku firing process, which results in a crackle-finish to his brightly colored vessels.
Mary Garber, whose work is pictured above, uses a raku technique to add an unusual finish to her "ferocious but lumpy beasties." Not pig, nor dog, nor hippo, she imbues each "Pog" with human traits just about everyone finds appealing!
Visit taylor's art & soul during the art walk to hear more about the ancient technique of raku, and to view the work of each of these extremely talented artists. |
| Marley's Pick... Artimals by Noelle Dass |
For September, my pick is fresh and feisty, just like my fellow Pugs!
Noelle Dass is the designer of Artimals. Her bright and whimsical artwork has been enthusiastically received by art collectors, parents and the young-at-heart.
"My art not only sells very well for childrens rooms but just as many adults buy for themselves," says Noelle in explaining the appeal of her work. "There are many young at heart adults out there looking for art that makes them smile!"
Print shown is "Must. Get. Ball!." Matted prints are available in two sizes, ranging from $26 to $38. Custom framing is available as well. |
