Star Report
Volunteering comes in many shapes and forms. Whether helping provide and deliver holiday baskets during the holiday season, coordinating resources for clean communities, or mentoring young men; Richard Love has worked to make a meaningful difference by freely contributing his time. In his service to Star Achievers' as a board member, Richard has embodied a spirit of dedication and commitment. This past year, he served in a leadership capacity as the board's vice chairperson where he provided motivation and support to the program. Additionally, he served as the event chairperson for the board's signature fundraising event, Breakfast with the Stars. When asked about his service to Star Achievers Richard stated, "We are a working board. Leadership
We are halfway through the school year and with the leadership of Chevese Thomas as principal of Cooper Elementary Magnet School for Technology and Tina Banks-Gray as Executive Director of Star Achievers Academy YMCA their committed effort everyday continues to propel Cooper towards excellence. The intent of the Magnet school concept is mastery in learning, positive conduct and interactions with others. With a little over eight months in leadership Ms. Thomas and Ms. Banks-Gray have provided vision and drive in establishing staff and curriculum development, community partnership, parent involvement, community volunteer opportunities and many other resources to ensure the success of our Cooper kids in each of the magnet areas. Thank you to Principal Thomas and Executive Director Banks-Gray for leading the way.
