EXCITING CHANGES - SAME MISSION
| It is an exciting time in the YMCA movement! Recently, our national organization, the YMCA of the USA, launched a new branding strategy which includes a new logo and the introduction of three areas of focus: youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. This new spin on our old favorites allows the YMCA mission "to put Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all" to be clearer and louder than ever before.
Our YMCA plans to roll out the new brand over the course of the next sixteen months; we invite you to share in our excitement as we embrace and begin the changes! |
IT'S A BRAND NEW DAY! | |
As a YMCA member, you can help your friends and family to have a fresh start toward their health and well-being by inviting them to join you at the Y! We're waiving the joining fee September 7 - 28.
Active YMCA members have a sharper mind, a more peaceful spirit, greater self-assurance, and a sense of community; all fueled by an overwhelming spirit of belonging. And of course, we've made sure that membership is affordable for everyone regardless of their household income.
Please invite your friends to start fresh today! |
MARKET DAYS | |
| Learn more about YMCA programs and services when you visit our booth at Market Days, Friday, September 10 and Saturday, September 11. If you know someone who is not a Y member, bring them out to join the Y at the Market Days booth and they are entered into a drawing for a free month! Volunteers are also needed to assist staff at the booth; please contact Sheila Pillath at
725-1488 if you are interested in helping.
NasCRAB RACES AT MARKET DAYS
And they're off! Cheer on the crabs as they race to victory to benefit the YMCA Strong Communities campaign. Join us on Saturday, September 11 at noon next to the fire station to see if your crab takes home the checkered flag! Sponsoring a crab helps provide financial assistance to youth and families in Mathews County who might not otherwise be able to afford YMCA programs and services. Contact Sheila Pillath at 725-1488 for more information on becoming a NasCRAB sponsor. |
MATHEWS BIGGEST WINNER
| Get healthy...and lose weight!
Join this free 8-week incentive program and get started on a brand new you! Workout on your own; walk, bike, kayak, do an aerobics class--it all counts! Since workouts are self-guided, members and program participants can participate. However, all weigh-ins must be completed at the YMCA. Register and weigh-in September 9-11; final weigh-in is November 8-10. One male and one female losing the largest percentage of weight wins a great YMCA prize package! And the contest is FREE!
