Greetings!
Happy New Year! I hope you are feeling as optimistic and excited for 2010 as we are. Certainly there are many things to celebrate in 2010, one being the 500,000 lives that will be saved this year through organ and tissue donation.
But despite this good news, there are now more than 105,000 people in our country who are still waiting to receive lifesaving organ transplants. The American Transplant Foundation continues its work to increase organ and tissue donation in order to save more lives.
Your support is critical to this effort. Please read on to learn the latest from the Foundation and to find out how you can get involved to help us increase organ and tissue donation.

Donate Life specialty license plates are now available
One of our proudest accomplishments in 2009 was creating Donate Life specialty license plates in our home state of Colorado. We're proud to announce that they are now officially available in Title and Registration Offices throughout the state. Get yours for a one-time $50 fee.
We've launched a social media and video campaign to promote the new license plates. Please help us spread the word about the newest way for Coloradans to raise awareness for organ and tissue donation!

| Manuel's Story |
|
Because of a tissue donor, Manuel can still do simple things he once took for granted
When a crane on his construction site hit a power line, 26-year-old Manuel was exposed to 115,000 volts of electricity--twice. Miraculously, Manuel survived, but his extensive injuries required skin grafts and the amputation of both arms and legs. Donated human bone allowed a surgical team to build Manuel a shoulder that could sustain a lightweight, well-functioning prosthetic arm.
"I can now do the simple things I once took for granted, like brushing my teeth and scratching my nose," says Manuel.
