Bowl for Kids' Sake, our annual fundraiser, is vital to supporting the programs and services for the children in Forsyth County. Money raised through this event funds nearly 30 percent of the agency's operating budget.

You still have time to form a team, raise donations and bowl with us. Simply go to www.bbbsnc.org or contact Pam Suber at psuber@bbbsnc.org or (336) 724-7993 for more information. Pre-registration is required.

Event Honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Moore and SinkThe "Day of Service Read-In Event" was a collaborative effort between HandsOn NW NC, Winston-Salem State University, Wake Forest University and Big Brothers Big Sisters in conjunction with one of the largest commemorative events held in Winston-Salem every year: the Noonday Celebration to commemorate Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Children worked at different stations which included story telling, writing letters to the troops and completing an "I Dream" banner with their own dreams and aspirations.

In the photo, Big Sister Gale Sink and her Little Taneisha read "Freedom on the Menu," one of the many books given to each of the participants during the event.

"We've done lots of activities together but I was looking forward to the MLK Day event to help her understand what service to others can mean, "said Gale.

Big Brothers Big Sisters had a great time with a group of wait list children at this event which will become an annual "day of service" for the agency.

We Need Your Help

Lazy 5 ranchWe continue to look for new ways to fund our programs and services and are grateful for the generosity of companies and individual donors. While volunteers are vital to the success of our Big and Little matches, donations are critical to the future of the agency.

Your donations could help fund:
A Match ($1,000). Help provide support and supervision for a Big and Little match for one year.

The Summer Reading Program ($300). Provide a program for children in our Wait List program to spend one day a week for six weeks during the summer, reading, doing projects and visiting local museums and cultural sites.

The Summer Picnic ($600). Fund an event this summer to celebrate our Bigs and Littles including swimming and food.

All other donations will be used to help the children of Forsyth County. Please let us know if would like to help Big Brothers Big Sisters and thank you for your support.
We hope that you enjoyed our February update. Let us know what you think by calling 336-724-7993 or emailing newsletter@bbbsnc.org.

Sincerely,

Big Brothers Big Sisters Services, Inc.
