Greetings!
Welcome to spring! The weather is warming and the bulbs are beginning to bloom. Make sure you take time to relax and appreciate mother nature and all she has to offer.
I want to extend a special thank you to all who attended our annual open house on March 16th, it was great to so many faces! Be sure and mark your calendars for next year...Saturday, April 16, 2011!
At the beginning of March I was lucky enough to be among 65 people from over 25 states that attend an annual 3-day intensive sewing camp in Houston, Texas. We all learned numerous new techniques for cornices, panels and embellishments on treatments. Stop by sometime and see some the fun new techniques that I learned. I do have one warning though...you WILL want them in your home :)
Great News! We have recently started an Impressive Windows & Interiors, LLC blog, become a follower today! |

Accessory of the month...
A great way to change the mood of any room is to change your throw pillows. And better yet, have one fabric on one of the sides and a coordinating one on the other side. I recently completing a home that did just that! Now when she wants a different look, she just flips them over. How easy is that!
Prices start at $20.00 per pillow

The Secret to Changing Your Mood-Color
Did you know there is a simple way to change how you feel in your home? Just change the color. Years of research have shown that colors elicit very specific emotions. Color impacts our moods, our energy levels, even our appetites. So why not use this information to influence your own feelings? How colors make us feel: Red Red is the most emotionally intense color. It raises your heart rate, which can give you more energy. You don't want to go too far with red, however, or you will feel agitated and overwhelmed.
Because red increases your metabolism, food will taste better, so it is a great color to use in dining rooms and kitchens.
Blue Blue has the opposite effect of red. It calms your system, so a blue room will feel peaceful and soothing. It is an ideal choice for bedrooms, especially for children who have trouble sleeping.
Since blue elicits tranquility, it is also a great color for a spa-like bathroom.
Yellow Yellow, the color of the sun, warms our senses. Any room that feels dreary can be cheered up with soft yellow. Yellow will put you in an optimistic mood. But watch out - if the shade is too bright, is can cause anxiety.
Green Because green is found in nature, it will make a room feel comfortable and inviting. Light green is calming, making it an ideal choice for almost any room in the house.
Rooms that are painted pale green have been shown to speed up the recovery of sick people.
Orange Orange has a lot of the same effects as red, but in a less aggressive way. Orange does increase energy, but it also creates feelings of warmth and intimacy.
Soft shades of orange - like apricot and salmon - are more emotionally pleasing than bright shades.
Purple Purple is a powerful color. It is mysterious because it is a combination of two polar opposites - red and blue. Your emotions in a purple room will depend on how much red or blue is in the shade of purple. In general, purple makes you feel spiritual and tranquil. While everyone has different tastes in color, remembering the "psychology" of color will help you make better decorating choices. So try a few of these ideas and transform the mood in your home.
