The Essential Air Service Program (EAS) plays an important role in ensuring that small communities, especially those with strong geographic challenges, have access to reliable and affordable air service. The FAA Reform and Modernization Act of 2012, which Congress passed earlier this year, preserves EAS by providing an estimated $193 million annually for the program, while enacting several reforms.
