Spring is on its way along with lacrosse, baseball, soccer and many other sports. Teamwork -- and just plain hard work -- is essential for athletes and business owners. We team up with clients every day and we do work hard to manage risk and protect assets.

Greetings!
2011 has started off with a flurry of positive economic news reports and a continued increase in stock market success. More jobs were created in January than in previous months and general optimism regarding financial stability seems on the rise. I hope this trend will continue.
A new partnership for Mensh Insurance
I'm happy to share some great news with you: Mensh Insurance recently entered into an exciting new partnership with Lawyers Insurance, the biggest insurers of lawyers in North Carolina (see below). This is a major new venture for our company, and we are certainly grateful for this relationship. We also continue to work with the residents and fellows at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center to help them secure their individually owned "true own
occupation" disability insurance policies. We've enjoyed working with all the young doctors training at Baptist; they're a great group. How can we help you? We continue to maintain our total independence and can bring all of the top term, whole, universal life products, disability insurance and long-term care insurance policies to you, your businesses, or your community or regional associations. Keep us in mind for any future needs, either for yourself or for a friend. We are always just an e-mail, phone call or coffee meeting away!

Big News for Mensh Insurance: We've Created a New Partnership with Lawyers Insurance
At Mensh Insurance, we are excited about a new partnership with Lawyers Insurance, the wholly owned insurance subsidiary of the North Carolina Bar Association. Under this newly formed arrangement, we are the only endorsed partner to offer a discounted and guaranteed issue individual disability insurance policy to all members of the NC Bar Association. This is truly an incredible opportunity, and we are excited to work with attorneys throughout the State of North Carolina to help them supplement existing policies, secure their first protection, or replace older, insufficient plans with these benefit-rich and extremely price-competitive designs.

No idea what Disability Insurance is or whether you already have it? Studies show, you're not alone.
In a recent study by the Council on Disability Awareness (Investment Weekly, Jan. 2011), only 37% of wage earners reported that they had taken steps to protect their income in case of disability. In the same report, 90% of wage earners said that their income was their #1 priority and the first step in maintaining financial security.
These findings are (surprisingly) not surprising
We find this rings true with many of the bright, well-educated clients we talk to on a daily basis. In fact, most clients we talk to regarding disability insurance say one of the following: A) "It won't happen to me"; B) "My employer provides it but I have no idea what it is"; C) "I bought some insurance a long time ago but I don't remember what it is or how much I have"; or D) Individual coverage is too expensive, so I'll take my chances."
What does all this mean?
Well, it certainly gives us a current snapshot of the major lack of education and understanding among men and women about disability income insurance. Truth is, most people have a pretty good idea how much life insurance they have, but are completely in the dark as to what would happen if their ability to earn an income were suspended.
Studies show that 71% of all Americans live paycheck to paycheck and nearly two-thirds do not have funds earmarked for emergencies. Clearly, people may think they are prepared to handle expenses in the event of a disability, but facts show us that most are not prepared at all.
What can you do?
We recommend that you look at the disability insurance you have now and determine how much, if any, supplemental insurance you need. If you're not sure about disability insurance, give us a ring and we'll help you figure it out.

It is important to understand that the way many people go about change is backwards. Most people think if they simply DO something different, they will then HAVE what they want and will BEcome a different person. This is called the DO, HAVE, BE mindset. Or, they may feel if they are given something, like money (HAVE), they will be able to DO all the stuff they want and will BEcome a different person. This is the HAVE, DO, BE mindset. Both of these models are wrong. To make a true change, you have to BE the thing you are trying to become right now in the present moment. Then you will automatically DO the things necessary to HAVE what you desire ... BE DO HAVE. This is often confusing. How can you BE something different right now? By studying and learning the habits of athletes and lean, fit people, you can master the art of being different. To BE the fit, lean person you desire to be right now, your imagination can be an amazing tool. Imagine what an athlete does or how a lean, fit person behaves. They are not "doing" a program; they are simply living their lives. See the rest of the article ...For more information on Metabolic Effect, click here.
Many thanks to Dr. Teta for his exercise advice!

A True Story from Facebook On our Facebook page, we'll sometimes publish a great rate on insurance. For example, we recently posted:
40 Yr old male, $1,000,000 of fixed 20 year term life- $56/month. Female $48/month.
And we had a friend post back, "Danny, (my husband) needs this ... please e-mail info to him." Naturally, this generated a bit of a conversation around our office: how many wives are out there that who know that their husband need life insurance, but who don't want to talk to them about it themselves? (And by the way, we understand.) Well, we're certainly happy to send info to our Facebook friend's spouse (or yours) and we'll say this as well: if you don't have life insurance and your spouse has already brought it up once, maybe twice (and maybe more than that ...) give us a call. Life insurance is a must, it's affordable and we can get you set up in no time at all.

Enjoy the nice weather!
Looks like we may be getting a little break from the freezing cold temperatures. We're certainly looking forward to that around our house. I heard a statistic recently that 70% of Americans don't have the amount of insurance they need. If you know you and your family are not covered the way you should be -- let's talk about it. And if you're a business owner, you know how important it is to have the right insurance for your employees. If you have questions -- let me know. I'll be glad to help you. Thanks for reading!
Take care,
