Greetings!
Hope you're having a great summer. Thanks for taking a look at our first E-newsletter. We want to stay in touch with our customers, family, friends, neighbors & associates so that when you have insurance questions -- you'll know we're there for you. In fact, we've been helping families and businesses plan their insurance portfolios for 40 years. And now you can call, e-mail, fax, even text me with your questions and insurance needs.
My wife Reedy and I have 3 boys. So we know what it's like to have a crazy schedule. And we know how easy it is to put off conversations about the "big picture" -- especially things like finances, insurance, creating wills and estate planning. When it comes to insurance you may be thinking, "Oh well, as long as I have health insurance I'm covered." But are you? What about Life Insurance and Disability Insurance? How about Long Term Care? How can those types of Insurance policies strengthen your financial foundations and give you piece of mind?
In this E-newsletter you'll find a couple of articles about getting organized, saving money on Long Term Care insurance and talking about Insurance in a tough economy. We also have a new web site: www.menshinsurance.com if you have any questions about specific policy types. Let me know if I can help you in any way.
Enjoy the last days of summer!

Buying Insurance in a Rough Economy |
Should you buy insurance when times are tough? That's a questions many people are asking right now. With gas sky rocketing and the stock market going up and down -- this can be a time of financial worry. So what's essential right now?
#1 : Health insurance. Health insurance is a must for everyone. And most people know that. The biggest problem that we tend to see is when people change jobs and their coverage lapses. If you're in a transitional period you need to make sure your health insurance is current and that you keep up with it. If you or your college age children are missing health insurance -- we need to talk.
#2: Disability Insurance. If you're the bread winner in your family you may think you're covered by your company if you're injured. Well, maybe. The truth is while most companies do provide disability insurance -- the payments may not be what you're used to seeing in your paycheck.
Here's a scenario: Let's say Bob and Caroline have 2 kids and Bob makes $150,000 a year. Bob is involved in a serious car accident and he's out of work for several months. Bob's disability insurance from his job kicks in and pays him X per month. The only problem is that's a lot less than his regular paycheck. Meanwhile this family has a $1,400 mortgage, additional medical bills, grocery bills, car payments, school bills, country club bills, estimated taxes, and various monthly bills from various activities the kids are involved in. All of the sudden -- a family that was easily making their payments -- is having a hard time. And that's scary.
One thing you can do is cover the gap with supplemental disability insurance. It will simply cover the additional amount that your company's disability insurance isn't paying. Simple enough.
#3. Paying your Premiums on Time. It's important to pay your insurance premiums on time and keep them current. Life can get a little crazy at times, so simply stay on top of when your premiums are due -- and send them on in.
#4. Developing a Long Term Insurance Plan. A long term insurance plan is crucial so that you don't have to react to market changes on a monthly basis. Our goal is for our customers to build a solid portfolio of insurance policies is to protect wealth and bring security. If you're a breadwinner you need Life Insurance. If you're a healthy man or woman in your 40s and 50s you should be looking at Long Term Care Insurance. It's not about trying to get you to buy insurance you don't need -- it's about buying insurance that will cover you when you do need it. |

Long Term Care: buy it when you're young and save |
If you're in your 30s or 40s your premiums for a Long Term Care policy will be much less than if you wait another ten years. And the truth is, if you wait too long, you might not be able to purchase an LTC policy at all.
What exactly is Long Term Care insurance and why would you need it? Well, Long Term Care Insurance provides benefits to help pay for prolonged healthcare costs incurred in the home, community, or in Assisted Living or Nursing facilities. This is a type of insurance that you buy if you want to protect your assets and remain independent in the event of a serious illness or accident. Most people think Long Term Care insurance is only for the very elderly. But actually that may not be the case. In fact, 50% of all Long Term Care benefits are used by people under 65. Getting your Insurance Info Organized |
Summertime is a great time to get your Insurance information organized so that you, your family members or the trustees of your will can find it. Let's face it -- there are a lot of husbands out there who can't find the dishwasher in the house much less the insurance information you have stored in the bottom of the desk drawer under the stapler refills. So here's a way to make things a little more simple.
1. Buy a $7.00 3-ring binder from your favorite office supply Store. The medium size will probably do. Write "Insurance Information" on the spine of the binder.
3. Create 7 Tabs in your Notebook. You can do this the fancy way with some printable Avery tabs or you can just buy the old fashioned tabs that you write on and stick in the slot. Create a tab for "Life Insurance", "Health Insurance", "Disability Insurance", "Long Term Care Insurance", "Homeowners Insurance", "Car Insurance" and "Other."
4. File away. File all your paperwork in the appropriate sections. Under "Life Insurance" keep all your payment confirmations, information, contact numbers, etc. Do this for all of the different policy types you own.
5. Look for Empty Sections. If your Long Term Care Insurance section is empty (because you don't have it) then you'll know that is something you will probably want to think about in the future.
Well that's about it. Now your insurance information is organized and ready to go. |
