VARIEGATED ENGLISH HOLLY Ilex aquifolium 'Argenteo Marginata'
Popular selection with shiny, dark-green leaves edged with creamy-white margins. Pyramidal grower brightens winter gardens with showy red berries. Remember, for this female plant to produce luscious red berries, it needs a male pollinator. Ideal for holiday decorations, its creamy variegated leaf is a great accent that brightens the whole plant. Grow as an immense shrub or prune off the lower branches for a charming accent tree. Its pyramidal form is particularly beautiful as a specimen in snow country. Makes a great privacy screen and prickly enough to discourage intruders.

SWEET BAY MAGNOLIA Magnolia virginiana
Exceptional southeastern native that remains small and yet blooms well enough to become a carefree specimen. A small, graceful tree or large, multi-stemmed shrub with creamy-white, lemon-scented flowers appearing in late spring, often continuing into September. Handsome red fruits appear in late summer or early fall and attract birds to the landscape. Dark green leaves are silvery underneath, giving a shimmering effect on windy days.
Perfect for smaller suburban landscapes where M. grandiflora is too large. Tall form is ideal for separating multistory homes or for shading sideyards. Integrate into woodlands or to add relief against fine textured evergreen conifers. Good patio or specimen planting. A natural for historic sites in the South.
Partial shade. Evergreen in the south, deciduous in northern climates. Reaches 12 to 20 feet tall and wide. Click here to see our stock & pricing

BRILLIANT RED CHOKEBERRY
Aronia arbutifolia 'Brilliantissima'
This deciduous shrub has it all! Fruit for the birds, nectar for insects, cover for wildlife and multi-season beauty. Clusters of spring blooming white to pinkish flowers provide loads of nectar for pollinators. Dense clusters of glossy red fruit follow the flowers. The fruit ripens in late summer and persists through winter. The glossy foliage turns brilliant red in autumn, making it a terrific alternative to the non-native, burning bush (Euonymus alatus).
Makes a fine informal hedge particularly attractive for its seasonal changes in suburban and rural sites such as farms and ranchettes. Smaller size also makes it suitable for traditional landscapes in shrub and mixed borders, foundation and fence lines. It will blend nicely with meadow and forest in the wild garden providing a valuable transition plant.
Full to partial sun. Will grow 3 to 5 feet wide and 6 to 10 feet tall.
